Zelensky Admits Peace With Russia Is Distant While Expecting Continued U.S. Aid
Trump refuses to be manipulated as Ukraine’s leader demands unwavering support.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky admitted this week that a peace agreement with Russia remains “very, very far away.” Yet despite his strained meeting with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance, Zelensky insists he still expects unwavering American support.
Zelensky stormed out of the White House after a tense negotiation on rare earth mineral rights.
Trump’s administration maintains that the Ukrainian leader refused to work toward peace.
Left-wing media claims Trump is “siding with Putin” for refusing to grant Ukraine unlimited backing.
Zelensky’s meeting with Trump on Friday was intended to finalize a minerals trade deal, but it quickly unraveled when the Ukrainian leader resisted discussions of a broader peace agreement with Russia. Trump’s administration has been clear: American support should not be unconditional, and Ukraine must demonstrate a willingness to negotiate an end to the three-year war.
Trump’s National Security Advisor Mike Waltz pushed back against the narrative that Zelensky was blindsided. “We were ready to sign that deal,” Waltz said, emphasizing that negotiations had been finalized weeks prior. He also criticized Zelensky’s dismissive attitude, noting his “shaking of head” and “arms crossed” demeanor in the Oval Office.
Despite this, American media immediately spun the situation into an attack on Trump, claiming that any attempt at a diplomatic solution meant “siding with Putin.” German politician Friedrich Merz even suggested the White House intentionally escalated tensions to put Zelensky on the spot. But in reality, Zelensky’s unwillingness to budge only highlighted his reluctance to seek a peaceful resolution.
For years, the Biden administration funneled billions into Ukraine with little oversight, prolonging the war without any real strategy for victory or peace. Trump, on the other hand, has made it clear that his foreign policy will prioritize American interests not endless foreign conflicts.
As the U.S. shifts away from the reckless spending of the past, Zelensky may finally have to face reality: the blank check era is over, and Ukraine will need to start working toward a real solution.
