Youngkin Orders Criminal Probe Into Alleged Secret Abortions For Virginia Students
Fairfax County school accused of arranging procedures without parental consent, possibly using public funds.

Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin has ordered a full criminal investigation into explosive allegations that staff at a Fairfax County high school arranged and funded abortions for underage students without notifying their parents and may have used taxpayer dollars to do it.
The claims center on Centreville High School, where in 2021 staff allegedly helped at least one 17-year-old obtain an abortion without parental consent. Reports suggest administrators may have been aware of the practice, which potentially involved local, state, and federal funds.
“I am deeply concerned with the allegations that Fairfax County Public Schools officials arranged for minors to get abortions without parental consent and may have misused public funds to pay for them,” Youngkin said Wednesday. “I am directing the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation to open a full criminal investigation into the matter immediately.”
Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) said it has hired an external investigator to review the accusations, calling the alleged conduct “unacceptable” if confirmed. “We all deserve to know exactly what happened,” the district said. “We will take appropriate action as necessary.”
When asked earlier this month if staff had ever arranged abortions for students, the district told local outlet WJLA it was not aware of any such cases, but confirmed an immediate investigation began as soon as the allegations surfaced. FCPS policy encourages students to speak with their parents if they suspect a pregnancy but does not require staff to inform parents about those conversations.
The controversy has drawn sharp condemnation from pro-life advocates. “A Fairfax high school secretly arranged and paid for student abortions without telling parents,” the group 40 Days for Life posted on X. “This isn’t ‘healthcare.’ It’s state-funded child exploitation. Every official involved must be held accountable.”
The case has reignited debate over parental rights, abortion access for minors, and the use of public funds in school-administered health decisions a flashpoint issue that is likely to intensify as the investigation unfolds.
