Trump Receives Support from 3 World Leaders After Second Assassination Attempt, Silence from Others

Netanyahu, Orban, and Zelensky stand by Trump while much of the global leadership remains quiet.

Following the second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump over the weekend, the majority of world leaders have remained conspicuously silent. However, three key figures Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stepped forward to offer their public support and well wishes for the former U.S. leader.

Netanyahu, whose relationship with Trump was notably strong during his presidency, was among the first to speak out. He posted on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his relief that Trump survived the latest attempt on his life. "Sara and I were shocked by the second assassination attempt against President Trump and were relieved to hear that it too failed. But we should not rely on luck," Netanyahu stated, highlighting the urgent need for enhanced security measures. Netanyahu’s deep appreciation for Trump stems from their close collaboration on issues critical to Israel, including the Abraham Accords and the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital.

Orban, another staunch supporter of Trump, issued his own statement, saying, “It is clear that President Trump’s life is in danger, until his victory. We are praying for you, Mr. President!” The Hungarian prime minister has long admired Trump’s foreign policy approach, particularly his peace-driven agenda. Orban has repeatedly pointed to Trump's tenure as a time of stability, noting that under Trump, the U.S. did not initiate any new wars—an attribute Orban deeply values in leadership.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, despite the tensions between Trump and Ukraine during the latter’s presidency, also expressed relief over Trump’s safety. Zelensky emphasized the importance of the rule of law, stating, “Political violence has no place anywhere in the world. My best wishes to him and his family.” Zelensky’s comments reflect a shared global sentiment against violence, even as geopolitical tensions persist.

In contrast, much of the international community remained silent or only offered generic comments without directly mentioning Trump. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer of the leftist Labour Party, for example, expressed concern but refrained from acknowledging Trump by name. Starmer stated, “I was very worried by the news about this attempt...but I think it is really important that we’re all very, very clear that violence has no part to play at all in any political process.” His hesitance to fully endorse or acknowledge Trump is emblematic of the broader reluctance from many left-leaning world leaders to offer support.

Netanyahu’s words during his July speech to Congress, just days after the first attempt on Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania, further cemented his admiration for the former president. He thanked Trump for his leadership, especially in securing the historic Abraham Accords and recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital—milestones that solidified Trump’s legacy as a friend of Israel.

  • Netanyahu, Orban, and Zelensky quickly expressed their support following the second assassination attempt on Trump, while many other global leaders stayed silent.

  • Netanyahu credited Trump with historic achievements for Israel, calling for better security to prevent future attempts on Trump’s life.

  • Orban and Zelensky both emphasized Trump’s importance in global peace efforts, despite different political landscapes.

The silence from many other world leaders following this alarming event speaks volumes. Trump's influence on the global stage may be polarizing, but the willingness of these three world leaders to publicly support him signals that his legacy endures, particularly among those who value his foreign policy achievements.
