Senator Warren Trusts Harris to Achieve Citizenship for Millions of Undocumented Individuals
Harris pledged to achieve comprehensive immigration reform if elected president.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) stated over the weekend that Vice President Kamala Harris, if elected president, will ensure that millions of illegal aliens who entered the U.S. under President Joe Biden will become U.S. citizens. Warren made these remarks during an interview with Jake Tapper on CNN’s “State of the Union” while discussing Harris’s role as Biden’s border czar.
“President Biden charged Vice President Harris with addressing the root causes of mass migration at the border by going to those Central American countries,” Tapper noted. “She’s consistently defended his handling of the border crisis. I don’t need to tell you voters overwhelmingly disapprove of how the Biden/Harris administration has handled the border.”
Tapper pressed Warren, asking, “By giving the nomination to one of the leaders of the border effort, aren’t Democrats doubling down on one of your party’s biggest vulnerabilities?”
Warren responded by claiming that border crossings are lower under the Biden administration than they were during Trump’s presidency and emphasized that the issue requires congressional action. “We need the tools in order to have more resources at the border, to have more resources in the states and cities that are supporting migrants. And I believe we need to create a pathway to citizenship. All of that is part of what we need to do for comprehensive immigration reform,” Warren said. “Kamala Harris will work with Congress and get that done.”
Warren’s assertion that Harris will push for the legalization of millions of illegal aliens underscores a commitment to comprehensive immigration reform that includes a pathway to citizenship. This pledge comes amid widespread criticism of the Biden administration's handling of the border crisis.
Harris, tasked by Biden with addressing the root causes of migration from Central American countries, has faced scrutiny over the administration’s border policies. Despite Warren's claims, many voters remain dissatisfied with how the situation has been managed.
The debate over immigration reform is poised to be a significant issue in the upcoming presidential election, with Harris’s approach likely to be a central focus. Her promise to work with Congress to achieve citizenship for illegal aliens highlights a sharp contrast with more stringent immigration policies advocated by Republican leaders.
As the election season heats up, the discussion around immigration reform and border security will continue to be a contentious and pivotal issue for voters.
