Virginia Private School Expels Kids After Parents Object To Antisemitic Bullying

Parents allege headmaster did nothing to stop harassment, then punished victims for speaking up.

A Virginia school that brands itself as a haven for gifted children is now under state investigation after allegedly expelling three students whose parents dared to speak up about antisemitic bullying following the October 7 Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians.

According to a civil rights complaint filed with the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, the Nysmith School for the Gifted in Herndon expelled three young siblings after their parents reported relentless harassment against their 11-year-old daughter for being Jewish.

The lawsuit names both the school and its headmaster, Kenneth R. Nysmith, accusing them of allowing a culture of hostility toward Jewish students to take root and then retaliating against the victims when their parents demanded accountability.

The disturbing allegations include:

  • A social studies classroom project glorifying Adolf Hitler as a “strong historical leader,” complete with an image that was distributed school-wide.

  • Students placing pro-Palestinian stickers on lockers and laptops while openly calling Jewish classmates “baby-killers” who “deserve to die.”

  • Repeated harassment of the Jewish student, who was told, “everyone at the school is against Jews and Israel, which is why they hate you.”

The complaint says the parents, Brian Vazquez and Ashok Roy, tried to address the issue directly with Mr. Nysmith who promised action but instead chose to escalate the problem. Just weeks after their initial complaint, the headmaster allegedly hung a Palestinian flag in the school gym, emboldening the bullies and increasing the abuse.

When the parents pleaded for help a second time, Mr. Nysmith’s reported response was to “tell their daughter to toughen up.” Two days later, the family received notification that all three of their children had been expelled.

Incredibly, the expulsion letter blamed the parents themselves for the situation, citing a “profound lack of trust” in school leadership as the justification.

The incident has raised broader questions about political radicalism in elite educational institutions, especially private schools insulated from public scrutiny. At a time when open antisemitism is rising across U.S. campuses and in K-12 classrooms, this case underscores what many parents fear: woke institutions defending bullies while punishing dissent.

It also reflects a dangerous trend where progressive ideologies are given institutional power, allowing “tolerance” to be weaponized against Jewish families, conservatives, and anyone else who pushes back.

Parents nationwide should take note: if this can happen at an elite “gifted” school in Northern Virginia, it can happen anywhere.
