JD Vance Criticizes Margaret Brennan’s Assertion That Afghan Refugees Are ‘Vetted’
Vice President slams lax vetting process, prioritizing American safety over political narratives.
Vice President JD Vance took a firm stance against claims that Afghan refugees brought into the U.S. under President Joe Biden’s administration were properly vetted, sparking a heated exchange with left-leaning host Margaret Brennan on Face The Nation this Sunday. Vance, citing security concerns, refuted Brennan’s assertion that all Afghan migrants were sufficiently screened.
“I don’t agree that all these immigrants, or all these refugees, have been properly vetted,” Vance stated. “In fact, we know that there are cases of people who allegedly were properly vetted and then were literally planning terrorist attacks in our country.”
Vance pointed to recent incidents, including a thwarted terrorist attack in Oklahoma, as evidence of failures in the current vetting system. “Just like the guy who planned a terrorist attack in Oklahoma a few months ago?” Vance asked. “He was allegedly properly vetted, and many people in the media and the Democratic Party said that he was properly vetted. Clearly, he wasn’t.”
Brennan attempted to defend the Biden administration’s refugee program, insisting that the individuals had been thoroughly vetted. Vance was unrelenting: “I don’t want my children to share a neighborhood with people who are not properly vetted. And because I don’t want it for my kids, I’m not going to force any other American citizens’ kids to do that either.”
The exchange highlighted a fundamental difference in priorities. While Brennan downplayed the risks, Vance underscored his responsibility to safeguard the American people. “My primary concern as the vice president, Margaret, is to look after the American people,” he said.
When Brennan suggested that the Oklahoma terrorist may have been radicalized after arriving in the U.S., Vance responded decisively: “I don’t really care, Margaret. I don’t want that person in my country, and I think most Americans agree with me.”
The Biden administration’s rushed withdrawal from Afghanistan has left a trail of security and humanitarian crises. The haphazard refugee resettlement program, which saw thousands of unvetted individuals enter the U.S., continues to raise questions about the government’s competence and priorities.
Vance’s remarks resonate with a growing number of Americans who feel their safety has been sidelined in favor of politically motivated policies. His unwavering commitment to protecting American families sets a sharp contrast to the Biden administration’s failure to address the dangers of inadequate refugee screening.
