U.S. Olympic Committee Implements Ban on Male Participation in Women’s Sports
Trump’s executive order delivers a historic win for women’s athletics and fairness in competition.

In a landmark move for women’s sports, the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee (USOPC) has officially banned men from competing against women, aligning with President Donald Trump’s executive order aimed at protecting fairness in female athletics. The policy change, quietly updated this week, is already being celebrated as a major conservative victory.
The USOPC confirmed the change after posting an updated Athlete Safety Policy on Monday. The committee said it would “continue to collaborate with various stakeholders with oversight responsibilities … to ensure that women have a fair and safe competition environment consistent with Executive Order 14201 and the Ted Stevens Olympic & Amateur Sports Act,” according to NBC News.
Key takeaways from the new policy:
The policy follows Trump’s February 5 executive order, “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports,” which mandates fair competition for biological women.
The updated rules do not mention the term “transgender,” but the USOPC confirmed men are no longer allowed to compete in women’s categories.
The committee has held multiple “respectful and constructive conversations with federal officials” to ensure compliance, according to The New York Times.
This decision comes amid mounting public outrage following controversial moments in past Olympic Games. In the 2024 Paris Games, Algerian boxer Imane Khelif who had previously failed gender tests dominated the women’s welterweight division, sparking worldwide criticism. Similarly, trans-identifying weightlifter Laurel Hubbard of New Zealand competed against women in the Tokyo 2021 Games, raising concerns over fairness.
The USOPC stated that while its policy cannot directly dictate rules for other countries, it will work closely with the International Olympic Committee to promote fair play. With the 2028 Summer Olympics set to be held in Los Angeles under Trump’s watch, the message is clear: women’s sports will be protected.
Recent polling from NBC News revealed that 75% of Americans oppose allowing biological men to compete in women’s sports. Strikingly, even two-thirds of Gen Z respondents a demographic often portrayed as progressive support protecting female athletic divisions.
Trump has made protecting women’s sports a core issue of his presidency, repeatedly stating that women deserve fair and safe competition. His executive order is now reshaping the landscape of Olympic sports, ensuring that future U.S. teams will compete on a level playing field.
