Trump Deploys Massive Carrier Strike Group to South America
As cartel threats grow and drug routes shift, Trump signals a bold move strikes on land may be next.

In a powerful show of force and renewed commitment to protecting the homeland, President Donald Trump has deployed the USS Gerald R. Ford America’s largest and most advanced aircraft carrier to South American waters. This marks a significant escalation in the ongoing war against drug cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs) flooding the U.S. with deadly narcotics.
The Ford Carrier Strike Group, now operating under U.S. Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), joins eight other American ships already patrolling the region. Their mission? Disrupt narcotics trafficking, dismantle cartel operations, and, if necessary, strike targets on land.
According to Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, this enhanced U.S. force presence “will bolster U.S. capacity to detect, monitor, and disrupt illicit actors and activities” threatening the safety of American citizens. The region includes Central America, South America, and the Caribbean areas long exploited by ruthless cartels.
This latest move comes on the heels of Trump’s aggressive naval campaign that has already led to:
10 targeted strikes on suspected cartel-run boats in the Caribbean Sea
At least 43 confirmed kills of drug traffickers attempting to reach U.S. shores
2 high-value captures of cartel operatives believed to be behind large-scale drug shipments
And Trump isn’t stopping at sea. “They’ll be coming in by land a little bit more because they’re not coming in by boat anymore. There are no boats in the water,” the president declared. “And we will hit them very hard when they come in by land.”
The shift in cartel tactics has prompted Trump to signal potential land-based strikes a move that has drawn sharp criticism from the usual suspects in Washington. Democrats, predictably, have lined up to oppose him. Senators Rand Paul (KY) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) even sided with Democrats like Adam Schiff (CA) and Tim Kaine (VA) in an unsuccessful attempt to block Trump’s military efforts.
Some Republicans, including Senators Mike Rounds, Thom Tillis, Todd Young, and Susan Collins, have called for more Congressional oversight. But Trump remains undeterred, stating plainly:
“We’re just going to kill people that are bringing drugs into our country, OK? We’re going to kill them, you know? They are going to be, like, dead.”
And frankly, most Americans are tired of the hand-wringing in Congress. With over 107,000 Americans killed by drug overdoses in 2022 alone, and fentanyl now the leading cause of death among Americans aged 18 to 45, the need for decisive action has never been greater.
Cartels operating with impunity in failed states like Venezuela, whose socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro lashed out at the U.S. after Trump’s recent strikes, are funneling poison into our communities. Trump’s strategy unlike the disastrous, do-nothing policies of Biden and Harris is about taking real action and protecting American lives.
As the Trump administration continues to eliminate cartel threats, the American people are finally seeing what it looks like to have a commander-in-chief who puts the nation's safety first without apologies, without hesitation.
