Trump Slams Zelensky for ‘Worst Statement’ on Ukraine War
President Calls Out Ukraine’s Reluctance to Seek Peace.

President Donald Trump delivered a blistering rebuke to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday after Zelensky declared that peace with Russia remains “very, very far away.”
Trump, who has been pushing for a diplomatic resolution to the conflict, tore into Zelensky’s pessimism, warning that America will not tolerate endless war.
“This is the worst statement that could have been made by Zelensky, and America will not put up with it for much longer!” Trump posted on Truth Social, reacting to an Associated Press report on Zelensky’s remarks.
Trump pointed to British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s recent comments that Europe should take the lead in negotiating a peace deal while also admitting that the effort cannot succeed without U.S. involvement.
“It is what I was saying, this guy doesn’t want there to be Peace as long as he has America’s backing,” Trump said. “Europe, in the meeting they had with Zelensky, stated flatly that they cannot do the job without the U.S. probably not a great statement to have been made in terms of a show of strength against Russia. What are they thinking?”
Zelensky’s defiant stance comes just days after his disastrous White House meeting with Trump and Vice President JD Vance, during which Trump accused him of gambling with World War III.
Over the weekend, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick confirmed in an interview with Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that Zelensky was never serious about peace.
“Zelensky was there to strike some sort of make-believe bargain,” Lutnick said, explaining that Ukraine’s president was more interested in demanding $300 billion in reparations and U.S. security guarantees than negotiating an actual end to the war.
Lutnick recalled Trump’s final words to Zelensky before ending the meeting abruptly:
“I can’t take this nonsense anymore,” Trump reportedly told Zelensky. “If you’re not interested in peace, then go home and think about it.”
The latest fallout with Zelensky underscores Trump’s commitment to ending the war not prolonging it with limitless U.S. funding.
While Biden’s administration funneled tens of billions into a conflict with no clear end, Trump is making it clear that America will not bankroll another endless war.
If Zelensky refuses to pursue peace, Trump has made it clear that Ukraine will no longer have a blank check from Washington.
The message is simple: America First means peace, not perpetual war.
