Trump Says RFK Jr Will Not Take Away Polio Vaccines

Trump emphasizes vaccine safety while promising to lower drug costs and investigate health issues.

During a press conference on Monday, President-elect Donald Trump addressed concerns over his nominee for Health and Human Services Secretary, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., clarifying that vaccines like the polio vaccine will not be revoked under his administration. Trump’s comments come amid reports raising questions about Kennedy’s stance on vaccines and federal health policy.

Responding to a reporter’s inquiry, Trump assured Americans that vaccine safety will remain a priority, while promising a thorough review of federal health practices.

“You’re not going to lose the polio vaccine,” Trump said. “That’s not going to happen. I saw what happened with polio. I have friends that were very much affected by that… Many people died, and the moment they took that vaccine, it ended.” Trump praised Dr. Jonas Salk for his role in eradicating polio through vaccination, highlighting the historic success of the program.

Trump emphasized that Kennedy’s role will involve conducting a broader investigation into health-related issues, from pharmaceuticals to environmental factors like pesticide use. He pointed out that countries in Europe have stricter pesticide regulations yet achieve better mortality rates, raising questions about America’s health outcomes.

“We’re going to have tremendous cost savings,” Trump said. “And we’re also going to have very serious discussions about certain things, whether it’s pesticides or… autism today versus 20 or 25 years ago. It’s like not even believable.”

Trump’s comments also touched on his administration’s goal of tackling the skyrocketing cost of prescription drugs. Americans pay far more for medications than other countries, even when the same drugs are manufactured in the same facilities.

“Why is it that Germany and the UK and other countries are paying so much less for the same box of medicine?” Trump asked. “Our government didn’t do what they were supposed to do. And what I put in place was terminated unexpectedly by the Biden administration.”

Trump’s statement refers to previous policies aimed at lowering drug costs, which were scrapped under President Biden. Trump vowed to reignite the fight to ensure Americans get fair prices on life-saving medications, a promise that resonated with many voters frustrated by Big Pharma’s unchecked influence.

While Democrats and legacy media continue to raise fears about Kennedy’s views, Trump made it clear that his administration will act rationally and prioritize facts over hysteria. He described RFK Jr. as “a very rational guy” and reiterated that no drastic action will be taken without thorough analysis.

Key takeaways from Trump’s press conference:

  • The polio vaccine and similar life-saving vaccines will remain in place.

  • Trump’s administration will review health issues, including the impact of pesticides and rising autism rates.

  • Lowering drug prices will be a top priority, targeting Big Pharma’s unfair pricing practices.

Trump’s approach highlights a commitment to ensuring public health while delivering cost-saving reforms and challenging failed policies from the Biden administration. With Robert F. Kennedy Jr. leading a health-focused review, Trump’s team appears ready to prioritize Americans’ health and wallets over bureaucratic interests.
