Trump Administration Revokes Over 80,000 Visas in Sweeping National Security Crackdown
With student offenders and criminal visa holders facing removal, the White House sends a clear message: American safety comes first.

The Trump administration isn’t just talking tough on immigration it’s delivering. In a sweeping move that reasserts America’s right to control its borders and protect its citizens, the State Department announced Thursday it has revoked more than 80,000 nonimmigrant visas so far this year. That number is more than double the total from last year, showing that this administration is serious about putting America First and keeping foreign criminals out.
Among the revoked visas:
16,000+ for DUI offenses
12,000+ for assault
8,000+ for theft
Over 8,000 student visas also rescinded, a significant portion of them tied to suspicious or criminal behavior
“Promises made, promises kept,” the State Department declared on X. “President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will always put the safety and interests of the American people first.”
This crackdown is a stark contrast to the open-border policies and weak visa enforcement seen during the Biden years, when thousands of foreign nationals overstayed their welcome or used student and work visas as cover for criminal activity, campus radicalism, or even support for terrorist groups.
Now, under renewed Trump leadership, the White House is no longer waiting for foreign nationals to commit a crime on American soil before acting. They're proactively revoking visas based on public safety threats, evidence of terrorist sympathies, and even online expressions of hostility toward the United States.
Some key facts:
Over 700,000 foreign students study in the U.S. annually many in sensitive STEM fields.
In 2024, under Biden, only around 35,000 visas were revoked, despite rising campus unrest and foreign-linked criminal cases.
The Trump administration has ordered increased monitoring of social media and new standards requiring visa applicants to publicly disclose online identities and affiliations.
On Day One of his return to the Oval Office, Trump signed an executive order mandating that all visa holders must “not bear hostile attitudes toward [America’s] citizens, culture, government, institutions, or founding principles.” That directive is now being enforced with teeth.
This isn’t about xenophobia. It’s about common sense. The U.S. has every right to deny entry or remove foreign nationals who assault citizens, drive drunk, steal, or support anti-American ideologies and violent extremism.
Yet critics, predictably from the far-left media and academia, are crying foul, claiming that some of these removals infringe on “free expression.” But here’s the reality: foreign nationals don’t have a right to be here. Visas are a privilege not an entitlement. And when that privilege is abused, the Trump administration has made it clear you're out.
As Secretary Rubio put it, the goal is simple: “No one with hostile intentions should step foot on American soil. This is how you secure a nation. This is how you protect the American people.”
While Democrats look for loopholes to let in more people who hate this country, Trump is using the full power of the presidency to protect it. And the American people are watching and approving.
