Trump Explains Why Kamala Harris’ Presidential Campaign Collapsed

Lack of public engagement and failed interviews sealed Harris’ fate, says Trump.

President-elect Donald Trump offered a candid assessment of Vice President Kamala Harris’ failed presidential campaign, pointing to her lack of public engagement and a string of botched interviews as the primary reasons for her collapse. Speaking to TIME magazine, which recently named him “Person of the Year,” Trump explained why Harris never gained traction with voters.

“Her biggest mistake was taking the assignment of running for president in the first place,” Trump remarked, emphasizing the importance of self-awareness in politics. “It’s critical to know what you’re good at, and she just didn’t connect.”

Trump’s Key Observations on Harris’ Campaign:

  • Avoiding the Press: Trump criticized Harris’ reluctance to engage with the media, even friendly outlets, saying her absence raised suspicions. “When she wouldn’t talk to anybody, it shone a light on her. People started wondering, is there something wrong with her?”

  • Failed Interviews: Harris’ few high-profile media appearances did not go well, Trump noted. “She put all her eggs in a few baskets, and when those interviews flopped, there was no way to recover.”

  • Missed Opportunities: Trump highlighted his own media strategy, contrasting Harris’ limited engagement with his willingness to speak broadly, including his three-hour interview with Joe Rogan. “Even if it’s a friendly publication, you have to show up. She didn’t do the basics.”

Trump argued that Harris’ campaign was doomed by her decision to limit interviews and her failure to handle the ones she did participate in effectively. “If she had done 15 more interviews, those bad ones wouldn’t have stood out as much,” he explained.

Harris’ struggles on the campaign trail have long been a source of scrutiny, with even members of her own party questioning her ability to connect with voters. Her tenure as vice president has been marked by low approval ratings and criticism of her handling of key assignments, such as border security.

As the 2024 election looms, Harris’ failed presidential bid serves as a cautionary tale for Democrats scrambling to redefine their strategy.
