Trump Urges Israel to Pardon Netanyahu and End Politically Motivated Trial
Calls prosecution "unjustified lawfare," says it’s time for Israel to unify under wartime leader.

President Donald J. Trump has once again proven he's not afraid to speak the truth others won’t, this time stepping up to defend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from what he calls a “political, unjustified prosecution.” In a powerful letter to Israeli President Isaac Herzog, Trump called for a full pardon of Netanyahu, citing the need for unity and focus in the wake of renewed efforts for peace in the Middle East.
“It is time to let Bibi unite Israel by pardoning him, and ending that lawfare once and for all,” Trump wrote.
Netanyahu, Israel’s longest-serving prime minister and a critical American ally, is currently facing charges of bribery, fraud, and breach of trust in three separate cases. These allegations long viewed by many on the Right as part of a deep state-style effort to remove a conservative leader have been politically charged from the beginning. Netanyahu has categorically denied all accusations.
Trump’s direct appeal to Herzog comes at a pivotal moment, as Israel begins navigating a fragile ceasefire with Hamas and mounting international pressure. The former U.S. president emphasized that Netanyahu’s leadership has been essential not just in times of war but in forging lasting peace through the historic Abraham Accords.
Trump’s letter stated that “Prime Minister Netanyahu has stood tall for Israel in the face of strong adversaries and long odds.”
He reminded Herzog that Netanyahu’s focus should be on security and diplomacy, not courtroom distractions driven by political opponents.
Trump reaffirmed his respect for Israel’s legal system but warned against lawfare tactics that echo the Left’s persecution of political rivals worldwide.
In response, President Herzog’s office praised Trump for his steadfast support of Israel and his pivotal role in stabilizing the region, noting his leadership in brokering ceasefires, aiding hostage releases, and confronting Iran. However, they clarified that Netanyahu must submit a formal pardon request for any clemency to be considered under Israeli law.
This isn’t Trump’s first defense of the Israeli Prime Minister. In his speech to the Knesset in October, Trump openly criticized the ongoing legal crusade against Netanyahu and has repeatedly advocated for an end to what he sees as politically driven trials not unlike the ones he himself faces in the U.S.
This is the global pattern of “lawfare” conservatives everywhere should be alarmed by: weaponizing courts to remove strong nationalist leaders who refuse to bend to the Left’s globalist agenda.
Trump understands something the current White House refuses to grasp that peace and stability are built by strong leaders, not prosecutors with political axes to grind. In a world facing escalating threats, whether from Iran, Hamas, or internal sabotage, Israel like America needs warriors, not witch hunts.
