Trump to Meet Netanyahu as Biden Reschedules Meeting

White House Cancels Netanyahu Meeting Amid Biden’s COVID Diagnosis.

Former President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida. This meeting comes after the White House canceled Netanyahu’s scheduled visit with President Joe Biden due to Biden’s recent COVID-19 diagnosis.

“Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, tomorrow,” Trump posted on TRUTH Social. Trump highlighted his administration’s accomplishments with Israel, notably the signing of the Abraham Accords, which established diplomatic relations between Israel and several Arab nations.

Trump emphasized his “Peace Through Strength” agenda, stating, “Just as I have said in discussions with President Zelensky and other World Leaders in recent weeks, my PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH Agenda will demonstrate to the World that these horrible, deadly Wars, and violent Conflicts must end. Millions are dying, and Kamala Harris is in no way capable of stopping it.”

While Netanyahu’s office has not officially confirmed the Mar-a-Lago meeting, the White House has rescheduled Netanyahu’s meeting with Biden for Thursday. The Israeli Prime Minister is also set to address a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, which is the primary purpose of his visit.

In a notable absence, Vice President Kamala Harris will not preside over Netanyahu’s speech to Congress. Instead, she will attend a convention for the historically-black Zeta Phi Beta sorority. Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Ben Cardin will take her place for the joint session.

House Speaker Mike Johnson criticized Harris’s decision, calling it “inexcusable” and accusing her of abandoning her responsibilities during a crucial time for Israel. “She needs to be held accountable for that… The idea [that Democrats] are making political calculations when our ally is in such dire straits, fighting for its very survival and fighting back against the horrific attack in October is unconscionable to us,” Johnson said.

Johnson also issued a stern warning about potential disruptions during Netanyahu’s speech. In a letter to his colleagues, he wrote, “All members should kindly inform their guests that any disruption of the proceedings of the House is a violation of the rules and may subject the offenders to prosecution.” He added that there will be increased police presence around the Capitol and in the House Chamber to ensure order.

Despite her absence at the speech, Vice President Harris’s office indicated she will meet with Netanyahu later this week. She intends to express her views on ending the ongoing conflict in a manner that ensures Israel’s security, secures the release of hostages, alleviates the suffering of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, and upholds the Palestinian people’s right to dignity, freedom, and self-determination.
