U.S. Shifting Personnel Out of Middle East, Trump Says ‘Could Be Dangerous’
As Iran threatens American bases, Trump warns Tehran will face serious consequences.

Tensions in the Middle East have reached a boiling point, and President Donald Trump isn’t taking any chances. On Wednesday evening, Trump confirmed that some U.S. personnel are being relocated from key positions in the region amid growing threats from Iran’s regime.
“Well they are being moved out because it could be a dangerous place and we’ll see what happens,” Trump said. “We’ve given notice to move out.” He then made it crystal clear where the line is drawn: “Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. We are not going to allow that.”
The strategic reduction comes as the Iranian regime ramps up its rhetoric ahead of the sixth round of nuclear negotiations with the Trump administration. Iran’s Defense Minister Aziz Nasirzadeh directly threatened U.S. military assets in the region, declaring, “All U.S. bases are within our reach and we will boldly target them in host countries.”
In response to these escalations:
The U.S. State Department authorized a drawdown at embassies in Baghdad and Erbil, with non-essential personnel and dependents allowed to leave posts in Bahrain, Kuwait, and elsewhere.
Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth approved the voluntary evacuation of military dependents across the U.S. Central Command’s area of responsibility.
CENTCOM is closely monitoring the situation while emphasizing the safety of American service members and their families remains the top priority.
Even Israel is on high alert. According to Axios, Israeli officials confirmed that the IDF has been operating at “extremely high alert in recent days” due to the heightened risk of conflict with Iran.
Trump has consistently made it clear that while he prefers diplomacy, he’s fully prepared to use military force if necessary to stop Iran’s nuclear ambitions. In an interview with the New York Post this week, Trump said he’s growing “less confident” that Iran will come to the table with a serious deal.
“They seem to be delaying, and I think that’s a shame,” Trump said. “I’m much less confident of a deal being made.”
This isn’t empty posturing. Last month, Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo, “I would rather negotiate a deal… but the time is happening now. Something’s going to happen one way or the other.” His defense secretary echoed the message, stating Trump is “dead serious” about preventing Iran from ever obtaining a nuclear weapon and is fully prepared to authorize military options if negotiations collapse.
Key context behind Trump’s decisive posture:
Iran continues to enrich uranium well beyond the limits of previous international agreements.
Tehran has armed and funded terrorist proxies across the Middle East, including Hezbollah, Hamas, and the Houthis.
Iran’s ballistic missile program continues to advance, posing a threat to U.S. allies and American forces throughout the region.
While Biden and the Democrats have repeatedly signaled weakness toward Iran attempting to revive failed Obama-era deals Trump has taken a firm America First approach: peace through strength. By drawing clear red lines and backing them with credible military options, Trump is once again demonstrating real leadership on the world stage.
The message to Iran is simple: either come to the table in good faith, or face devastating consequences. Trump understands what’s at stake American lives, global security, and the future stability of the Middle East.
