Trump Says Maduro Wants Talks as Military Options Remain on the Table

President warns Venezuela over cartel ties, slams Biden for allowing criminals into the U.S.

President Donald Trump confirmed Sunday that Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro is seeking talks with the United States, as pressure from Trump’s administration continues to mount over Venezuela’s role in drug trafficking and the broader security crisis at America’s southern border.

Speaking before boarding Air Force One in West Palm Beach, Trump emphasized that while no land-based military action has been authorized against Venezuela, the door remains wide open.

“We may be having some discussions with Maduro, and we’ll see how that turns out. They would like to talk,” Trump told reporters.

Trump noted that a recent U.S. designation of a Venezuela-linked cartel gives Washington the authority to strike Maduro’s assets or infrastructure if necessary. Although he clarified that no such actions have been taken yet, the signal was clear: all options are still on the table.

The president said Congress is being kept in the loop but only for awareness, not for permission.

“We like to keep Congress involved. I mean, we’re stopping drug dealers and drugs from coming into our country,” Trump said. “But I don’t need Congress to authorize that.”

As always, Trump didn’t shy away from taking direct aim at the Democrat-led Congress, warning against dangerous leaks of classified information that could endanger U.S. military or intelligence personnel.

“The only thing I don’t want them to do is leak information that’s very important and confidential,” he said. “They put our military at risk.”

Trump tied the Venezuela crackdown to the broader fight against the narco-trafficking and mass migration crisis that’s exploded under Joe Biden’s open-border policies. He accused Maduro’s regime of releasing violent prisoners into the United States a move he says has contributed directly to the crime surge in American cities.

  • Trump claimed hundreds of thousands of released Venezuelan criminals have entered the U.S. under Biden.

  • He linked Venezuela’s regime to drug cartel operations, now formally targeted by U.S. authorities.

  • He highlighted the lack of vetting at the southern border, calling it a national security disaster.

“What the Biden administration did to our country should never be forgotten,” Trump said. “The single worst thing they did is allow 20 or 25 million people to pour into our country people from prisons, drug dealers, mental institutions, gang members.”

He also praised Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other top officials for working closely with Congress while keeping the mission focused on stopping the inflow of drugs and criminals from both Venezuela and Mexico.

With Biden asleep at the wheel, Trump is making it clear he’s ready to lead the fight to secure America’s borders, hold narco-regimes accountable, and end the chaos that has defined Democrat rule for the past four years.
