Trump Leaves G7 Early As Israel-Iran Conflict Escalates

After major UK trade deal, Trump rushes back to Washington as Tehran faces heavy Israeli strikes.

President Donald Trump is cutting short his participation in the G7 summit in Canada and returning to Washington amid the rapidly escalating conflict in the Middle East, the White House announced Monday.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the sudden change in plans, stating that while Trump had originally intended to stay longer, the growing crisis required his immediate attention. “President Trump had a great day at the G7, even signing a major trade deal with the United Kingdom and Prime Minister Keir Starmer. Much was accomplished, but because of what’s going on in the Middle East, President Trump will be leaving tonight after dinner with Heads of State,” Leavitt posted on X.

The president's decision to leave comes as Israel continues its relentless bombardment of Tehran, targeting Iranian military and strategic sites in a series of precision strikes. The Israeli assault comes in response to days of Iranian missile attacks on Israeli cities, triggering a dangerous escalation that now threatens to drag the region into wider war.

Trump issued a stark warning to Iranian civilians via Truth Social, urging them to leave the capital city immediately:

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again! Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

Trump revealed that Iran has begun reaching out through intermediaries to seek negotiations, but noted that Tehran missed its opportunity to strike a deal before the conflict exploded. “They’d like to talk, but they should have done that before,” he said. “I had 60 days, and they had 60 days. On the 61st day, I said, ‘We don’t have a deal.’ They have to make a deal, and it’s painful for both parties. But I’d say Iran is not winning this war, and they should talk, and they should talk immediately, before it’s too late.”

During the summit, G7 leaders circulated a draft statement that called on both sides to pursue negotiations to end the conflict. Trump, staying true to his America-First, no-nonsense foreign policy, refused to sign the statement, standing firmly against any effort that would pressure Israel into softening its military response against Iran’s aggression.

Trump’s leadership on the world stage once again shows the stark contrast to the weak, indecisive foreign policy of the Biden administration, which spent years appeasing the Iranian regime through failed nuclear deals and billions in sanctions relief. It was Biden’s weakness that allowed Iran to continue funding terrorism, building its nuclear program, and provoking Israel into this war. Now, Trump is once again forced to clean up the global mess created by Democrat appeasement and incompetence.

In the midst of all this, Trump still secured a major trade deal with the United Kingdom, continuing to prioritize American economic strength even as global tensions rise.

With U.S. military assets now surging into the region including carrier strike groups, air defense systems, and thousands of additional troops Trump is making it clear that the U.S. stands ready to defend its allies, eliminate Iran’s nuclear threat, and restore peace through strength.
