Donald Trump Jr. Confronts MSNBC Reporter During Live Broadcast
Heated Exchange Highlights Media Bias at Republican National Convention
Donald Trump Jr. took no prisoners during a live interview with MSNBC's Jacob Soboroff at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Monday. Flanked by his brother Eric Trump, the president’s son initially seemed open to answering questions but quickly turned combative when Soboroff suggested that his father, former President Donald Trump, was a divisive figure.
“I don’t think he was a divisive figure at all. I think the media created divisiveness around him. They lied about Russia, Russia collusion, they said he was a traitor, they went after him in every which way possible,” Trump Jr. asserted. He emphasized that if the media reported honestly on Trump’s achievements, including economic prosperity and international peace deals, it would benefit the entire country.
The exchange grew more heated when Soboroff shifted the topic to illegal immigration, asking whether a second Trump term would continue policies that separated children from their parents at the border.
“Will we continue to see policies like separating 5000 children deliberately from their parents?” Soboroff inquired.
“You mean like the Obama administration?” Trump Jr. retorted, referencing the controversial immigration policies under former President Obama. Soboroff denied this comparison, prompting Trump Jr. to respond with a skeptical “Sure.”
Soboroff's persistence on the family separation policy led Trump Jr. to criticize MSNBC further. “It’s MSNDNC so I expect nothing less from you clowns even today,” he remarked, accusing the network of dishonesty and insensitivity, especially in light of the recent attempted assassination of his father. “Even 48 hours later, you couldn’t wait, you couldn’t wait with your lies and with your nonsense, so just get out of here.”
Trump Jr.'s fiery rebuttal underscores the ongoing tension between the Trump camp and mainstream media outlets, highlighting accusations of bias and unfair treatment that have been a hallmark of Trump’s political narrative.
