Trump Strikes Indonesia Trade Deal as EU Threatens $84 Billion in Tariffs
With pressure mounting worldwide, President Trump scores another win while the EU doubles down on failed globalism.

President Donald Trump continues to deliver where the Biden administration only delivered excuses. On Tuesday, Trump announced a new trade deal with Indonesia a strategic win aimed at strengthening American industry, reducing trade deficits, and keeping global partners on notice.
“Great deal, for everybody, just made with Indonesia. I dealt directly with their highly respected President. DETAILS TO FOLLOW!!!” Trump posted on Truth Social, signaling the latest victory in his aggressive “America First” trade agenda.
Though Indonesia isn’t a top-tier trade partner by volume, its nearly $40 billion in annual trade with the U.S. is growing. In 2024 alone:
U.S. exports to Indonesia rose 3.7%
U.S. imports from Indonesia jumped 4.8%
Resulting in a nearly $18 billion trade deficit
Indonesia’s biggest exports to the U.S. include palm oil, electronics, footwear, rubber, and frozen shrimp sectors where American workers are often undercut by cheap foreign labor and weak environmental standards.
Facing Trump’s threat of a 32% tariff starting August 1, Indonesia quickly came to the table. Their government is reportedly finalizing a joint statement detailing the tariff and non-tariff terms of the agreement. It’s yet another example of Trump using strength not surrender to make progress on trade.
Trump has issued similar ultimatums to over two dozen countries in recent weeks, including Brazil, Japan, and Canada, with tariff threats ranging from 20% to 50% and a firm 50% tariff on copper. These aren’t empty threats. They’re strategic moves designed to bring jobs and leverage back to American soil.
Meanwhile, chaos brews across the Atlantic.
The European Union, clinging to its outdated globalist doctrine, is threatening retaliatory tariffs on $84.1 billion worth of U.S. goods if talks with Washington break down. Their hit list includes:
Boeing aircraft
Cars and car parts
American whiskey and spirits
Agricultural goods, including fruits and vegetables
Medical devices and electrical equipment
In other words, the EU is ready to punish American farmers, factory workers, and innovators just to preserve their unbalanced trade system.
Trump’s proposed 30% tariff on EU imports, scheduled to take effect August 1, has sent Brussels into a frenzy. EU trade chief Maros Sefcovic said Europe is prepared to use “countermeasures” if a deal isn’t reached, but such rhetoric only underscores their desperation.
Let’s be clear: the old system never worked for American workers. President Trump’s direct diplomacy and firm stance are finally putting U.S. interests first, deal by deal, while the European bureaucrats cling to a failing model.
This trade breakthrough with Indonesia, along with earlier wins with the U.K., Vietnam, and a preliminary deal with China, shows that Trump’s tough approach works because America should never beg for fairness, it should demand it.
