Trump Says India Caves on Tariffs Amid Cozy Photo-Op with China and Russia
As Modi embraces America’s enemies, Trump’s tough trade policy forces India to cut tariffs to zero.

President Donald Trump has once again proven that tough American leadership gets results. As Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi cozied up to Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin at a high-profile summit in China, Trump dropped a bombshell on Truth Social. India has offered to reduce its tariffs on U.S. goods to zero.
“They have now offered to cut their Tariffs to nothing, but it’s getting late. They should have done so years ago,” Trump wrote, calling out the “one-sided” relationship that’s long benefited India at the expense of American workers.
This announcement comes on the heels of Trump’s hard-hitting 50% tariffs on Indian imports, a direct response to India’s ongoing purchases of Russian oil a move that undermines U.S. efforts to shut down Putin’s war machine.
While the Biden State Department and White House stayed silent, Trump took action, and once again, the world listened.
Meanwhile, halfway across the globe, Modi, Xi, and Putin put on a PR display at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, laughing and linking arms in front of cameras. It was a moment designed to challenge the U.S.-led global order and a clear signal that India is playing both sides.
But behind the smiles and handshakes, Trump’s pressure campaign is working.
Here's what's really happening:
India buckled under Trump’s tariff assault, offering to eliminate tariffs on U.S. goods.
The image of Modi aligning with Xi and Putin is a desperate attempt to save face as Trump reclaims U.S. economic dominance.
The “Global South” narrative pushed by China is no match for U.S. leverage when real leadership is in the White House.
Let’s not forget, under Trump’s first term, the U.S.-India relationship strengthened significantly built on mutual respect and shared concern about China’s aggression. But Trump has always made one thing clear: friendship doesn’t mean free rides. When India defied sanctions and kept buying Russian oil, Trump responded with strength, not weakness.
And now, India is folding.
This is exactly what leadership looks like: applying maximum pressure, defending America’s economic interests, and getting results all while the Biden administration hides behind press statements and endless diplomacy that leads nowhere.
Trump’s America doesn’t bow to global alliances built to undermine us. We don’t play nice with nations funding our enemies. And we certainly don’t tolerate one-sided trade deals that rob American workers.
The message to the world is simple: America is back and under Trump, we play to win.
