Trump Taps Tulsi Gabbard to Moderate Wisconsin Town Hall During Midwest Campaign Surge

Former Democratic congresswoman rallies behind Trump, endorsing him over Harris in 2024.

Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is set to moderate a town hall featuring former President Donald Trump in La Crosse, Wisconsin, on Thursday. The event marks a significant moment in Trump’s 2024 campaign as he ramps up his efforts in key Midwest battleground states.

Scheduled for 6:00 p.m. local time at the La Crosse Center, the town hall comes on the heels of Gabbard’s formal endorsement of Trump over Vice President Kamala Harris, whom she previously challenged during the 2020 Democratic primary. Gabbard’s endorsement adds a unique twist to the 2024 race, highlighting her break with the Democratic Party and her alignment with Trump’s vision for America.

Earlier this week, Gabbard joined Trump at a campaign event in Detroit, where she passionately urged Americans from all political backgrounds to support Trump’s bid for the presidency. “I am proud to stand here before you today, whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, or an independent, if you love our country as I do... I invite you to join me in doing all we can to save our country and elect President Donald J. Trump and send him back to the White House to do the tough work of saving our country and serving the people,” Gabbard declared.

The town hall will be broadcast live as part of The Daily Wire’s Election Wire coverage, offering viewers a chance to see Trump and Gabbard in action as they engage with voters in Wisconsin. This appearance is part of a broader campaign swing through the Midwest, where Trump is focusing on key states that could determine the outcome of the 2024 election.

Before arriving in Wisconsin, Trump will stop in Potterville, Michigan, to speak at the Alro Steel factory. In his speech, Trump is expected to emphasize his economic policies, particularly those related to inflation and manufacturing—issues that resonate deeply in Michigan, a state he won in 2016 by a narrow margin.

Alro Steel's Vice President of Business Development and Marketing, Brian Glick, explained the company’s decision to host the event: “We recognize the critical importance of manufacturing growth in the State of Michigan and this country,” he told local media. The factory event underscores Trump’s commitment to revitalizing American manufacturing, a key theme of his campaign.

Both Wisconsin and Michigan are critical battlegrounds for the 2024 election. Trump’s victories in these states in 2016 were pivotal in breaking through the Democrats’ “blue wall.” However, current polling averages show Vice President Kamala Harris leading by a slim margin—2.2 points in Michigan and 1 point in Wisconsin.

As the campaign season heats up, all eyes will be on these pivotal Midwest states to see whether Trump can replicate his 2016 success and return to the White House.
