Trump Dismisses Gabbard’s Iran Testimony as Conflict with Israel Escalates
While Tulsi Gabbard insists Iran wasn’t building nukes, Trump says Tehran was weeks from striking capability.

President Donald Trump made it clear this week he doesn’t care what Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard previously said about Iran not building a nuclear weapon. As conflict between Israel and Iran heats up, Trump’s blunt assessment is gaining traction while Gabbard’s March testimony looks dangerously out of touch.
While returning from the G7 summit, Trump was asked about Gabbard’s downplaying of the nuclear threat. His response was direct: “I don't care what she said. I think they were very close to having one.”
This comes after Israeli intelligence confirmed Iran had amassed enough 60% enriched uranium to produce a nuclear bomb in less than a week. Israel responded with Operation Rising Lion, a series of preemptive strikes that took out key elements of Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure and killed several high-ranking military officials.
Despite her earlier claims that Iran wasn’t building a bomb, Gabbard admitted in her March testimony that Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile was at unprecedented levels for a non-nuclear state. She also noted a growing internal push in Tehran to resume weapons development—something Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu clearly weren’t willing to ignore.
The International Atomic Energy Agency confirmed Iran’s uranium stockpile includes 60% enriched uranium, just short of weapons-grade (90%).
Experts estimate Iran could produce enough material for its first nuclear weapon in one week, and up to ten bombs within three weeks.
Netanyahu declared the Israeli strikes were necessary to prevent “a nuclear-armed terrorist state on our border.”
Trump’s national security team—Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth—met at Camp David just before the Israeli strikes. Notably absent was Gabbard, reportedly due to National Guard obligations during immigration-related riots in California.
Despite White House efforts to paper over the cracks, claiming Trump and Gabbard are “aligned,” the president’s words tell a different story. Trump isn't interested in diplomatic spin—he’s focused on stopping Iran from ever reaching nuclear capability.
“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign,” Trump posted to Truth Social. “What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON.”
Now overseeing the situation from the White House, Trump declared Tuesday that the U.S. has “complete and total control of the skies over Iran.” He also warned Iran’s Supreme Leader that his location is known and could be targeted though, for now, the U.S. is holding back.
In typical fashion, Trump isn’t mincing words or tolerating weakness. As Iran vows revenge and missiles fly, the world watches to see whether strength or softness will define America’s approach.
