Trump Demands FBI Preserve Records From Closed DEI Office

The move comes as Trump vows to eliminate DEI programs across the federal government.

President-elect Donald Trump has called on the FBI to retain all records from its now-defunct Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI), which was quietly shuttered last month. The timing of the closure, just days before Trump’s inauguration, has raised questions about the agency’s motivations and the broader role of DEI programs in federal institutions.

“We demand that the FBI preserve and retain all records, documents, and information on the now closing DEI Office Never should have been opened and, if it was, should have closed long ago,” Trump declared on social media. “Why is it that they’re closing one day before the inauguration of a new Administration? The reason is, CORRUPTION!”

The FBI has confirmed the closure but has yet to provide a detailed explanation. The agency’s DEI initiatives had faced mounting criticism from Republican lawmakers, including Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), who warned that prioritizing such ideological agendas jeopardized the Bureau’s primary mission of protecting the American public.

“I am deeply concerned that under your leadership the Bureau has prioritized Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives over its core mission of protecting the American people,” Blackburn wrote in a letter earlier this month.

Former FBI Special Agent Nicole Parker also criticized the agency, stating that “the constant push for social justice weaponization” within the FBI has distracted from its constitutional obligations.

The now-closed DEI office, as described on the FBI’s website, was created to “promote a diverse and inclusive workplace” and support employee advancement. The office encouraged participation in employee resource groups, which critics argue have served as platforms for advancing left-wing activism.

While the DEI office has been shut down, it remains unclear whether these associated programs will also be discontinued. These initiatives mirror broader federal efforts under the Biden administration, which has implemented over 500 measures to entrench DEI practices across government agencies.

Trump’s demand signals his commitment to dismantling DEI programs across federal institutions. As the new administration prepares to take the reins, the president-elect has pledged to root out ideologically driven bureaucrats and redirect federal agencies back to their core missions.

This comes as private corporations, once at the forefront of DEI initiatives, have begun rolling back such programs in response to public pushback. Trump’s focus on the FBI’s DEI office reflects his broader strategy to purge what he has called “woke” policies from government and military institutions.

As Trump’s inauguration approaches, his administration will have the opportunity to hold agencies accountable, ensuring that taxpayer dollars are spent on protecting American citizens rather than promoting divisive social agendas.
