Trump to Use Day One Orders to Deploy Military to the Border and End Biden’s Policies

Incoming administration targets cartels, border security, and immigration reform with sweeping actions.

President-elect Donald Trump will move swiftly to overhaul U.S. border and immigration policies after taking office on Monday, signing nearly a dozen executive orders aimed at securing the southern border and reversing Biden-era policies. The incoming administration’s actions mark the start of a bold agenda focused on national sovereignty and immigration enforcement.

Trump will sign three major orders on Day One, addressing border security, military involvement, and targeting international cartels.

  • Resuming Border Wall Construction: Trump will immediately direct the federal government to restart construction on the U.S.-Mexico border wall, which the Biden administration largely halted. This order will also end Biden’s parole policies, including the CBP One app and parole processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans, under which nearly 1.5 million migrants have entered the U.S.

  • Reinstating the Remain-in-Mexico Policy: The Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) will be revived, requiring migrants to remain in Mexico while awaiting their asylum hearings.

  • Deploying U.S. Troops to the Border: A second order will authorize U.S. military deployment to the southern border under U.S. Northern Command. Military resources will integrate with federal law enforcement to strengthen border operations and prioritize U.S. territorial integrity.

“This Executive Order sends a clear message that the United States intends to exercise its sovereignty over its land and borders,” according to details provided to Fox News.

Designating Cartels as Foreign Terrorist Organizations (FTOs). A third order will formally label groups like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists. This designation will impose financial penalties, disrupt their operations, and declare these groups a national security threat.

Trump’s actions underscore his commitment to fulfilling his campaign promises, particularly his vow to secure the southern border. The move comes after years of escalating crises at the border, beginning in 2021 under the Biden administration. Policies such as parole programs and asylum protections are widely seen as contributing to record levels of illegal migration.

In addition to these orders, Trump has named former ICE Director Tom Homan as the new "border czar" to oversee the implementation of border security measures and mass deportation efforts. South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem, nominated as Secretary of Homeland Security, emphasized that “border security must remain a top priority” during her confirmation hearings.

The FTO designation for cartels like MS-13 reflects Trump’s aggressive stance on dismantling criminal networks that flood the U.S. with drugs and violence. “Declaring cartels as quasi-governments is an essential step in protecting American communities,” a senior administration official stated.

Trump’s border-focused executive orders signal the incoming administration’s resolve to reassert control over immigration policy and border enforcement. With additional actions expected in the coming days, Trump’s administration aims to establish a legacy of unprecedented border security and sovereignty.
