Trump Vows to Halt Aid to South Africa Over Land Seizure Policies
South Africa faces U.S. funding freeze after enacting controversial land confiscation law.
President Donald Trump announced Sunday that his administration will suspend all aid to South Africa following the country’s enactment of a controversial law allowing the government to seize land without compensation under the guise of “public interest.” The move signals a strong stance against what Trump described as a “massive human rights violation” being ignored by the mainstream media.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump made it clear that his administration would not tolerate racist land expropriation policies that strip property from certain groups while benefiting others.
“South Africa is confiscating land, and treating certain classes of people VERY BADLY. It is a bad situation that the Radical Left Media doesn’t want to so much as mention,” Trump wrote. “The United States won’t stand for it, we will act. Also, I will be cutting off all future funding to South Africa until a full investigation of this situation has been completed!”
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa signed the Expropriation Act into law, which allows the government to seize private land when deemed “just and equitable.”
The law eliminates the previous “willing seller, willing buyer” model, which required the government to pay for land acquisitions.
South Africa’s leadership claims the law will promote fairness, but critics including Elon Musk have blasted it as blatantly racist.
Musk, a South African-born billionaire and strong Trump ally, responded directly to Ramaphosa’s defense of the law, asking: “Why do you have openly racist ownership laws?”
Trump previously ordered an investigation into farm murders in South Africa during his first term, amid rising concerns that white farmers were being specifically targeted for violent attacks. Now, with land confiscation becoming official policy, Trump is taking decisive action once again.
When asked whether other African nations could face similar aid suspensions, Trump clarified that his current focus is South Africa, where the leadership is “doing some terrible things, horrible things.”
“They’re confiscating land, and actually they’re doing things that are, perhaps, far worse than that,” Trump warned, noting that his administration is actively investigating the situation.
This move by Trump puts real pressure on South Africa’s leadership. Unlike the weak, globalist policies of the Biden administration which constantly prioritized foreign interests over American values Trump is once again proving that he will stand against tyranny and defend human rights worldwide.
