Chris Wright Chosen by Trump to Lead the Energy Department

President-elect Donald Trump has tapped energy industry veteran Chris Wright to lead the U.S. Department of Energy, marking a pivotal move in Trump’s plan to reestablish American energy independence. Wright, a renowned technologist and entrepreneur, will also serve on the newly formed Council of National Energy.

“I am thrilled to announce that Chris Wright will be joining my Administration as both United States Secretary of Energy and Member of the newly formed Council of National Energy,” Trump said in a statement Saturday evening.

A Proven Innovator

Wright is best known for his instrumental role in launching the American Shale Revolution, which not only solidified the U.S. as an energy superpower but also reshaped global energy markets. His career spans multiple sectors, including nuclear, solar, geothermal, and oil and gas, highlighting his broad expertise in both traditional and renewable energy technologies.

“Chris was one of the pioneers who helped launch the American Shale Revolution that fueled American Energy Independence and transformed the Global Energy Markets and Geopolitics,” Trump said.

He will work closely with North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, who has been tapped to serve as Secretary of the Interior and Chairman of the National Energy Council. Trump emphasized that this team will not only restore energy dominance but also advance critical national objectives.

“This team will drive U.S. Energy Dominance, which will drive down Inflation, win the A.I. arms race with China (and others), and expand American Diplomatic Power to end Wars all across the World,” Trump said.
