Trump Floats Golden Dome Deal to Make Canada the 51st State
Trump Says Canada Weighing 51st State Status for Free Missile Shield.

In a move that has stunned political observers and infuriated Canadian officials, President Donald Trump claimed Tuesday that Canada is "considering" joining the United States as its 51st state in exchange for free access to America’s upcoming Golden Dome missile defense system.
Trump dropped the bombshell on Truth Social "I told Canada, which very much wants to be part of our fabulous Golden Dome System, that it will cost $61 Billion Dollars if they remain a separate, but unequal, Nation, but will cost ZERO DOLLARS if they become our cherished 51st State. They are considering the offer!"
While Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and King Charles III have publicly rejected the idea, Trump’s strategic messaging pairing unmatched missile defense with the benefits of U.S. statehood has clearly hit a nerve in Ottawa.
This isn’t just about satire or symbolism. Trump’s "Golden Dome" initiative is a massive, $175 billion satellite-based defense system designed to shield the U.S. and its allies from ballistic missile threats. It’s projected to be fully operational within three years and according to Trump, Canada wants in.
Carney’s office admitted as much last week, saying there are “active discussions” with the U.S. on “new security programs, including the Golden Dome.” But what the Biden-friendly Canadian elite won’t admit is this: Trump is setting the terms, and they’re not holding the cards.
$61 billion: The price tag Trump says Canada would pay as an independent nation to join the system.
$0: The cost if Canada became America’s next state.
3 years: Timeline for full deployment of Golden Dome missile defense across the continent.
It’s no surprise that Canadians are uneasy. Trump has repeatedly criticized Canada’s reliance on U.S. defense systems without equitable contribution, while also highlighting Canada’s failed immigration policies, weak economic performance, and growing unrest over globalist overreach.
Prime Minister Carney, who narrowly secured re-election, built his campaign around opposing Trump’s influence yet now finds himself negotiating with the very man he swore to defy. In Parliament, King Charles offered a vague rebuttal, declaring, “Canadians can give themselves far more than any foreign power on any continent can ever take away.”
That line fell flat with many who see the writing on the wall: the future of security in North America will be defined in Washington, not Ottawa or London.
And while Canadian elites pretend Trump’s comments are absurd, they’re simultaneously engaged in “constructive discussions” with the very administration offering this deal. The contradiction is glaring and telling.
Make no mistake Trump’s 51st state proposal isn’t just geopolitical theater. It’s a tactical pressure campaign to expose the weakness of globalism, the hollowness of fake sovereignty, and the strength of American leadership when it’s unapologetically America First.
Canada may not be ready to say yes, but if Trump returns to the White House in 2025, the pressure will only grow. As Trump himself might put it why be a neighbor when you could be family?
