Trump Blasts ‘Sick’ James Comey Ahead of Possible Indictment

Former president says disgraced FBI director “did terrible things” as DOJ considers charges over 2020 testimony.

President Donald Trump didn’t hold back on Thursday when asked about former FBI Director James Comey’s potential indictment, calling him a “sick person” who “did terrible things at the FBI.” The comments came during a press appearance in the Oval Office alongside Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, just hours after reports emerged that Comey may soon be criminally charged for lying to Congress.

“Comey is a bad person. He’s a sick person, I think he’s a sick guy actually,” Trump said. “He did terrible things at the FBI.”

Trump was careful to note that the decision to indict would ultimately fall to the Department of Justice, not him, but didn’t shy away from sharing his opinion on the man who helped orchestrate one of the most politically weaponized investigations in modern American history.

“They’re going to make a determination I think I’d be allowed to get involved if I want, but I don’t really choose to do so,” Trump added.

The case centers on Comey’s September 2020 testimony regarding his role in the FBI’s disastrous Crossfire Hurricane investigation into Trump’s 2016 campaign. According to investigative reporter Carol Leonnig of MSNBC, DOJ prosecutors are acting quickly because the five-year statute of limitations for lying to Congress or committing perjury expires this month.

“There is evidence to suggest Comey lied to Congress,” Leonnig said Wednesday, confirming that an indictment has been “in the works for some time.”

It’s been years in the making, but it looks like justice may finally be catching up with one of the key architects of the Russia collusion hoax a hoax that tore through the country for years, damaged public trust in our institutions, and was rooted in nothing more than a politically motivated smear campaign against Trump.

Let’s not forget:

  • Comey signed off on FISA warrants riddled with omissions and falsehoods, targeting innocent Americans.

  • He leaked memos to the media to trigger a special counsel investigation into Trump.

  • And he knowingly relied on the discredited Steele Dossier, funded by Hillary Clinton’s campaign, as justification for investigating the sitting president.

And yet for years, Comey was treated like a hero by the corporate press hawking books, going on lecture tours, and portraying himself as the embodiment of "truth and integrity." Now, the same man may soon be defending himself in federal court.

Trump’s comments are more than just personal. They reflect what tens of millions of Americans already believe: James Comey weaponized the FBI to take down a political opponent, and he’s never been held accountable until now.

While the DOJ has yet to file formal charges, the clock is ticking. If Comey is indicted, it will mark a historic moment in the fight to root out corruption in the highest levels of law enforcement and a long-overdue vindication for Trump and his supporters.

Because no one, not even a former FBI director, is above the law.
