Trump Slams Kamala Harris for “Too Little, Too Late” Southern Border Visit

Harris’ campaign stop in Arizona sparks criticism from Trump over border failures.

Former President Donald Trump did not mince words in criticizing Vice President Kamala Harris after reports surfaced of her planned visit to the U.S.-Mexico border this week. Harris, who has faced mounting pressure over her handling of the border crisis, is expected to make a campaign stop in Arizona on Friday to address the immigration issue. Trump, however, blasted the visit as a politically motivated stunt, accusing Harris of neglecting the crisis for nearly four years.

“After almost four years, Border Czar Kamala Harris has decided, for political reasons, that it’s time for her to go to our broken Southern Border,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “What a disgrace that she waited so long, allowing millions of people to enter our Country from prisons, mental institutions, and criminal cells all over the World, not just South America, many of those coming are terrorists, and at a level never seen before!”

Trump didn’t hold back, criticizing Harris for the record 10 million border encounters reported by Customs and Border Protection since the Biden-Harris administration took office. Of these, nearly 2 million “gotaways”—migrants who evaded capture—have further fueled the perception that the administration has lost control of the southern border. Trump attributed the crisis to Harris’ failure in her role as “Border Czar,” a position President Biden appointed her to in 2021 to address the “root causes” of migration.

Key Points from Trump’s Criticism:

  • Trump lambasted Harris for her long-delayed visit, calling it a "disgrace" and accusing her of allowing the influx of millions of unvetted migrants.

  • He highlighted the impact on national security, claiming the U.S. has been flooded with criminals and terrorists from “places unknown.”

  • The former president emphasized that his administration built hundreds of miles of the border wall, which he says "works," in stark contrast to Harris’ failures.

"When Kamala is seen at the Border on Friday, she will pass Hundreds of Miles of Wall that was built by TRUMP, and it is Wall that WORKS!” Trump wrote. “When she speaks, I hope everybody remembers that she has caused our cities, towns, and Country itself, tremendous damage, and only I can fix it!”

Harris’ campaign stop comes as the Democratic nominee faces significant criticism over her immigration policies. Polling suggests that the American public has little confidence in Harris on the immigration issue. An Associated Press poll from last month showed that Trump is trusted by 45% of voters on immigration, compared to just 38% who trust Harris.

According to CNN, Harris’ visit was set in motion after her campaign officials expressed concerns about her weak polling numbers on immigration. Political analysts argue that the trip is unlikely to change public opinion. CNN contributor Scott Jennings noted that no matter what Harris says at the border, voters see Trump as tougher on the issue. “They don’t trust Democrats on this issue because of the last three-and-a-half years,” Jennings said.

Since Biden and Harris took office, the border crisis has spiraled out of control, with illegal crossings reaching record levels and overwhelming border states. Trump, who made border security a cornerstone of his presidency, continues to hammer the current administration for failing to secure the southern border.

As Harris prepares for her Arizona stop, it remains to be seen whether her trip will resonate with voters or merely highlight the administration's continued failure to address the crisis at the southern border.
