NBA Coach Steve Kerr Calls ICE Shooting ‘Murder’ After Agitator’s Death
Golden State’s left-wing coach ignites backlash by accusing law enforcement of murder in case tied to anti-ICE activist interference.

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr sparked national outrage Friday night after accusing an ICE officer of “murder” in the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, a known agitator and anti-ICE activist in Minneapolis.
Following the Warriors’ 137-103 win over the Sacramento Kings, Kerr used his postgame platform not to talk basketball, but to slam law enforcement and parrot far-left talking points.
“It’s shameful, really, that in our country we can have law enforcement officers who commit murder and seemingly get away with it,” Kerr said.
“It’s terrible, terribly sad for her family, and for her, and that city.”
This isn’t Kerr’s first rodeo with progressive political theatrics, but his rhetoric crossed a dangerous line. Instead of calling for calm or facts, he flat-out accused a federal officer of murder despite video evidence and official DHS statements that show Good was aggressively blocking ICE operations, refusing orders, and using her vehicle to threaten agents.
According to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Good was warned repeatedly before attempting to ram ICE officers with her car. One video shows her striking an agent, prompting a defensive shooting. DHS has classified the incident as an act of domestic terrorism, noting that Good had followed agents to two separate locations before obstructing their operations again.
But that didn’t stop Kerr from jumping headfirst into the activist narrative.
Good was a member of “ICE Watch,” a group trained to disrupt and interfere with immigration enforcement in sanctuary cities.
Kerr praised the Minnesota Timberwolves for holding a moment of silence for Good, during which fans shouted “F--- ICE” and cheered.
Kerr’s inflammatory comments came despite DHS reports linking Good’s behavior to a broader trend of organized interference with federal law enforcement.
The backlash was swift from conservatives and law enforcement officials alike, who condemned Kerr’s statements as reckless, anti-police, and divorced from the facts.
“This isn’t about mourning a death. This is about glorifying lawlessness,” one retired ICE official said. “When a federal officer is nearly run down by a car and defends himself, that is not murder. That is survival.”
Kerr’s remarks come as the Trump administration cracks down on criminal networks exploiting sanctuary policies across major cities. Minneapolis, in particular, has seen a surge in ICE activity after revelations of massive welfare and immigration fraud tied to non-citizen groups.
It’s not the first time Kerr has targeted President Trump or law enforcement. Last year, he wore a Harvard basketball shirt in protest of Trump freezing the school’s federal funding over rampant antisemitism on campus.
Once again, Kerr has shown that he’s less of a coach and more of a part-time activist with a microphone, using his NBA clout to inflame tensions and vilify those tasked with keeping the country safe.
Americans are watching, and the choice is clear: support the men and women who enforce the law, or side with those who weaponize their platforms to tear it down.
