As Trump’s U.N. Ambassador, Stefanik Focuses on ‘America First Peace Through Strength’

Stefanik vows to rebuild U.S. global influence after years of weak leadership.

President Donald Trump has tapped Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, appointing a leader he trusts to carry forward his America First, “peace through strength” approach to foreign policy. Stefanik, who currently serves as House Republican Conference Chair and recently won a sixth term in Congress, pledged to uphold Trump’s vision of U.S. strength on the global stage and promote firm alliances that advance American interests.

Stefanik expressed her honor in accepting the nomination, saying, “I am deeply humbled to accept President Trump’s nomination and look forward to earning the support of my colleagues in the United States Senate.” She emphasized that Trump’s second-term election marks “brighter days ahead” for the country, both domestically and internationally. As U.N. Ambassador, Stefanik says she will focus on strengthening America’s alliances and standing firm against adversaries that threaten U.S. interests.

  • Restoring U.S. Standing at the U.N.: Under the Biden administration, the U.S. saw a decline in influence at the U.N., which critics say emboldened adversaries and weakened national security. Stefanik plans to change that by ensuring U.S. foreign policy is rooted in strength, not appeasement. “The work ahead is immense,” Stefanik said, pointing to rising anti-Semitism and instability that have flourished under what she called four years of “catastrophically weak U.S. leadership.”

  • Defending Against Global Threats: Stefanik’s approach mirrors Trump’s hard-line stance on foreign threats, particularly China’s increasing influence, Iran’s destabilizing actions in the Middle East, and growing anti-American sentiment at international institutions. Stefanik said she will support policies that pressure U.S. allies to be stronger partners while promoting a secure environment for American interests around the globe.

Trump praised Stefanik as a “strong and very smart America First fighter” who has consistently championed the nation’s interests. Stefanik was the first member of Congress to endorse Trump and has since been a powerful advocate for his policies. As a member of the House Armed Services and Intelligence Committees, Stefanik has gained a reputation as a national security hawk, recently working to combat rising anti-Semitism on college campuses and advocating for a powerful national defense.

In addition to Stefanik’s nomination, Trump has also named former Rep. Lee Zeldin (R-NY) to lead the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Mike Waltz (R-FL) as his national security adviser, and Tom Homan as his “border czar.” Together, these appointments reflect Trump’s priority on strengthening America’s position at home and abroad. Stefanik's leadership at the U.N. is expected to play a critical role in countering America’s adversaries, defending U.S. sovereignty, and restoring the influence that many believe was lost over the past four years.

Stefanik’s nomination awaits Senate confirmation, but her commitment to advancing America’s security and sovereignty is clear. Her leadership as Trump’s U.N. Ambassador is poised to signal a new era of U.S. strength and integrity on the world stage.
