State Department Reveals Hunter Biden's Appeal for U.S. Aid to Ukraine Gas Firm During His Father's Vice Presidency

Newly released State Department records reveal Hunter Biden's efforts to leverage U.S. influence abroad.

In a stunning revelation, Hunter Biden sought assistance from the U.S. government in 2016 to help Burisma, the Ukrainian gas company where he served on the board, expand its operations into Italy. This maneuver took place while his father, Joe Biden, was serving as vice president under the Obama administration.

Accusations have long plagued Hunter Biden, now a convicted felon, alleging that he exploited his father's influential position to secure lucrative international business deals. These new records, released by the Biden-Harris State Department, further substantiate these claims. According to a report by The New York Times, the State Department disclosed these documents last month after years of withholding the information from public scrutiny.

The released records reveal that Hunter Biden penned at least one letter to John R. Phillips, the U.S. ambassador to Italy at the time, seeking to arrange a meeting between Burisma executives and the president of Tuscany, Enrico Rossi. The aim was to discuss potential business opportunities in Tuscany's geothermal sector. The State Department, however, redacted the entire content of Hunter Biden’s letter, keeping the full extent of his request concealed.

Despite the Burisma project in Tuscany never coming to fruition, the involvement of Hunter Biden and his attempts to use U.S. diplomatic channels for personal gain raises serious questions about the ethical boundaries crossed during his father’s vice presidency.

Notably, the release of these documents followed a lengthy legal battle initiated by The New York Times under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). After filing the FOIA request in June 2021 and suing the State Department eight months later due to its refusal to release the records, the department finally produced the documents on July 26, just days after Joe Biden withdrew from the presidential race amid plummeting poll numbers.

As Hunter Biden faces trial next month on charges related to tax evasion from the millions he earned through Burisma and other foreign entities, federal prosecutors are reportedly considering additional charges under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA). If proven, these charges could further tarnish the already controversial image of the Biden family.

This latest revelation underscores the ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Biden family's business dealings, particularly as the 2024 election approaches. With these developments, concerns about the integrity of leadership in Washington continue to grow.
