Ohio Governor Confirms Springfield Bomb Threats Were Hoaxes

Bomb threats follow Trump and Vance’s criticism of migrant surge in Springfield.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine revealed Monday that the 33 bomb threats targeting Springfield over the past week were all hoaxes, with some originating from overseas. The city has been under scrutiny since former President Donald Trump and Senator JD Vance highlighted residents' concerns about the surge of 20,000 Haitian migrants entering the area in recent years.

The bomb threats led to several evacuations, including schools, hospitals, and government buildings. Despite the chaos, none of the threats proved to be credible. “33 threats, 33 hoaxes,” DeWine said firmly, assuring the public that none of the threats held any validity. According to the governor, some of the threats even came from outside the United States, with foreign actors seizing an opportunity to “mess with” the country.

Springfield first gained national attention when unconfirmed reports surfaced on social media that Haitian migrants were allegedly responsible for pets going missing. Trump referenced these claims, suggesting that migrants were eating local residents' pets. While there’s been no solid evidence to back these accusations, the story spread quickly, sparking outrage and concern within the community.

Meanwhile, the left-leaning media has gone into overdrive, attempting to tie the bomb threats to Trump and Vance’s outspoken rhetoric on immigration. Some outlets have gone so far as to suggest that their comments contributed to the threats. Last week, Springfield City Hall and multiple schools were evacuated due to the ongoing hoaxes, followed by hospital lockdowns over the weekend.

Vance has been especially vocal about the strain on Springfield caused by the influx of migrants, blaming the Biden-Harris administration’s open-border policies for failing to address the issue. Speaking on CNN, Vance condemned the bomb threats but took offense at the suggestion that his words could have incited them. “There is nothing that I have said that has led to threats against these hospitals. We condemn all violence,” Vance stated, making it clear that his focus was on the suffering of local residents under current immigration policies.

  • The bomb threats disrupted life in Springfield, forcing evacuations of schools, hospitals, and public buildings.

  • Investigators have traced some of the hoaxes to overseas sources, highlighting the broader impact of foreign actors exploiting U.S. internal tensions.

  • The surge of migrants and local frustration comes at a time when the Biden administration’s border policies are under heavy scrutiny.

Governor DeWine has responded by sending additional law enforcement and millions of dollars in aid to help the community manage the crisis. He also took a jab at the federal government, criticizing their lack of a plan to handle the ongoing migrant surge. "The federal government has not demonstrated that they have any kind of plan to deal with the issue," DeWine said. "We will not walk away."

The situation in Springfield is just one part of the larger immigration disaster unraveling across the country. With over 10 million illegal border crossings under the Biden-Harris administration and no end in sight, towns like Springfield are left to grapple with the consequences. While the legacy media focuses on blaming conservatives for the unrest, the reality is clear: weak leadership in Washington is to blame.
