Bill Nye and Buttigieg Stump for Spanberger as Democrat Scandal Erupts in Virginia

Desperate Democrats turn to celebrity distractions as Jay Jones controversy dogs Spanberger's campaign.

With just weeks until Virginians head to the polls, Democrats are pulling out every desperate trick in the book including celebrity cameos to salvage a flailing campaign marked by scandal and division.

On Tuesday, gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger will campaign in Charlottesville with none other than Bill Nye “The Science Guy” and former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. It’s a bizarre rally lineup that reeks of elitist pandering a failed children’s TV host and a failed presidential candidate trying to prop up a failing Democrat.

All the while, Spanberger is scrambling to distance herself from fellow Democrat Jay Jones, the party’s scandal-plagued attorney general candidate, who recently made headlines for texting violent threats involving Republican officials. Yet, despite public backlash, Spanberger still refuses to call on Jones to drop out.

Instead, she’s doubling down on divisive rhetoric and trying to distract voters with high-profile endorsements and celebrity noise.

  • Bill Nye made headlines this week at an anti-Trump protest in D.C., comparing Trump supporters to Confederates and ranting about “petulant presidents.”

  • Buttigieg, who oversaw a supply chain disaster and pushed radical transportation equity schemes, now returns to the campaign trail to boost a candidate who won’t condemn political violence.

  • Spanberger’s campaign has pivoted from scandal control to an all-out assault on Republican Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, attacking her pro-life stance while dodging questions about her own party’s implosion.

The attempt to create a feel-good rally in Charlottesville, home of Thomas Jefferson, falls flat when juxtaposed with the facts: Democrats are running scared in Virginia.

Even as Spanberger poses for photo ops near Monticello, across town Republican John Reid is engaging directly with voters at the University of Virginia’s Dome Room part of a growing grassroots momentum behind the GOP ticket. Reid, a former Green Beret, is now running neck-and-neck with Democrat Ghazala Hashmi.

Meanwhile, Trump's presence looms large in Albemarle County. His winery and estate sit just down the road from Jefferson’s Monticello, and the roadside is lined with American flags and patriot pride, a not-so-subtle reminder of the values Democrats abandoned long ago.

Spanberger may think parading Bill Nye and Pete Buttigieg in front of liberal college kids will earn her points, but Virginians see through the act. Nye’s angry rants and Buttigieg’s bureaucratic failures won’t erase Jay Jones’ violent messages or Spanberger’s silence on the matter.

And this is just the beginning.

  • Spanberger is set to appear with Barack Obama in the coming days another desperate attempt to energize a demoralized base.

  • On the Republican side, Senator Ted Cruz is rallying with Earle-Sears, energizing conservatives across the state.

  • Polling data shows Spanberger slipping in key regions, with rural and suburban voters moving toward the GOP amid growing dissatisfaction with Biden-era Democrats.

From inflation to crime to foreign policy disasters, voters are rejecting Democrat rule and Spanberger’s refusal to lead in the face of scandal is just one more nail in the coffin.

Virginia doesn’t need Bill Nye’s lectures or Buttigieg’s buzzwords. It needs leaders who will confront corruption, defend life, and restore sanity.
