Soros-Backed D.A. Bragg Praises Jury After Trump’s Guilty Verdict

Bragg commends jurors for their dedication in politically charged trial

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, backed by Democrat megadonor George Soros, praised the jury on Thursday following their guilty verdict against former President Donald Trump. Bragg's enthusiastic remarks come after a highly contentious trial, which many view as politically motivated.

Bragg commended the jury, selected from a region that heavily favored Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, calling them “literally the cornerstone of our judicial system.” He expressed gratitude for their “service,” emphasizing the extensive evidence they reviewed. “We should all be thankful for the careful attention that this jury paid to the evidence and the law and their time and commitment over these past several weeks,” Bragg stated.

The trial, which convicted Trump on all 34 counts of falsifying business records related to hush-money payments, involved testimony from 22 witnesses. Bragg detailed the jury’s thorough review process, which included call logs, text messages, emails, recordings, checks, invoices, bank statements, and calendar appointments.

Bragg asserted that such cases are central to his office's mission, despite criticism that the case against Trump was an exception due to its political nature. “In the 1930s, District Attorney Thomas Dewey ushered in the era of the modern, independent, professional prosecutor,” Bragg claimed. “For now nearly 90 years, dedicated professionals in his office have built upon that fine tradition.”

Bragg thanked his prosecution team, praising their professionalism and integrity. “A major part of our practice, during that nearly 90 years, has been public integrity work, including cases involving jurists, local and state electeds, public servants, and others,” he added. “They are model public servants. And I am proud and humbled to serve side by side with them.”

The D.A. highlighted the jury’s commitment to basing their decision solely on evidence and the law. “The 12 everyday jurors vowed to make a decision based on the evidence and the law and the evidence and the law alone,” Bragg emphasized. “Their deliberations led them to a unanimous conclusion beyond a reasonable doubt that the defendant, Donald J. Trump, is guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree to conceal a scheme to corrupt the 2016 election.”

Despite the political overtones, Bragg insisted the trial followed standard judicial procedures. “While this defendant may be unlike any other in American history, we arrived at this trial and ultimately today at this verdict in the same manner as every other case that comes to the courtroom doors — by following the facts and the law and doing so without fear or favor.”
