Secret Service Dismantles Massive Telecommunications Threat Near UN Summit
Network of 100,000 SIM cards linked to nation-state actors and threats against U.S. officials found near New York City.

In a stunning national security development, the U.S. Secret Service revealed Tuesday that it dismantled a sprawling network of electronic devices near New York City a system capable of disrupting telecommunications, targeting cell towers, and enabling encrypted communications between foreign adversaries and criminal operatives.
The threat wasn’t abstract. It was located just 35 miles from the United Nations General Assembly, which is currently underway in Manhattan and attended by top global leaders and senior U.S. officials.
This wasn’t some amateur setup.
Over 300 SIM servers were discovered.
More than 100,000 SIM cards were found deployed across multiple sites in the tristate area.
The system was reportedly used to carry out anonymous threats against U.S. government officials and could have been used for denial of service attacks, disabling mobile networks, and masking communication between hostile nation-state actors and domestic accomplices.
“The potential for disruption to our country’s telecommunications posed by this network of devices cannot be overstated,” said Secret Service Director Sean Curran.
The agency is now conducting forensic analysis on the equipment, but early data confirms what many have feared: the communications involved foreign adversaries already known to U.S. law enforcement and intelligence agencies.
This isn't just about illegal surveillance or threats against individual politicians it's about the integrity of our nation’s digital infrastructure.
The Secret Service is working alongside the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Justice, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and the NYPD to trace the origins of the threat and identify all involved.
Let’s not gloss over the timing and location:
This operation was uncovered during one of the most high-profile international events of the year the United Nations General Assembly.
Dozens of senior U.S. officials, foreign dignitaries, and international media are currently concentrated in New York City.
The system, if activated, could have thrown entire swaths of New York’s communications into chaos during a period of maximum global visibility.
Director Curran made clear that the Secret Service’s protective mission is focused on prevention, and this is a textbook example of proactive defense in action.
“This investigation makes it clear to potential bad actors that imminent threats to our protectees will be immediately investigated, tracked down and dismantled,” Curran said.
But the broader question remains: Who built this network? And how close did we come to a catastrophic disruption on American soil?
This is the kind of story that should be dominating headlines a reminder that the threats against our nation aren’t theoretical. They are real, they are sophisticated, and they are already here.
While the Biden administration continues to bungle foreign policy and distract the public with culture war smoke screens, federal agencies are now intercepting cyber-espionage-level threats within commuting distance of our largest city.
And you can be sure: if the Secret Service hadn’t stepped in when they did, this could have been a very different week for New York and for the entire country.
