Supreme Court Blocks Trump from Deporting Violent Venezuelan Gang Members
Liberal justices side with ACLU to protect illegal immigrants tied to Tren de Aragua despite national security concerns.

In a deeply troubling move that exposes the judicial Left’s continued war against American sovereignty, the Supreme Court has blocked President Donald Trump from deporting illegal Venezuelan immigrants suspected of belonging to the violent Tren de Aragua gang.
The late-night ruling came after the ACLU challenged the administration’s use of the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, arguing that the suspects hadn’t received deportation notices in their native language and were unaware of their right to contest removal.
Let’s be clear: these are not random migrants. Tren de Aragua is one of the most ruthless transnational gangs in Latin America tied to drug trafficking, kidnapping, extortion, and brutal murders. Border authorities have been overwhelmed with their infiltration across the southern border, thanks to the Biden-era open borders fiasco.
Yet the high court, in a 5-4 ruling, told the Trump administration it must pause deportations for now. Only Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito stood firmly on the side of national security, dissenting from the order. The court's three liberal justices once again chose the criminally accused over law-abiding Americans, joined in part by Justice Amy Coney Barrett.
The Supreme Court had just ruled on April 7 that Trump could invoke the Alien Enemies Act to deport gang-affiliated illegals as long as proper legal notice was given.
The administration already deported 137 suspected Tren de Aragua members, a stunning reversal of the Biden years, where criminal aliens were largely given a free pass.
The ACLU claims the gang members, detained in Texas, received paperwork in English. Their suit paints these dangerous individuals as victims of administrative error an argument the Court accepted.
This is exactly what Trump vowed to fix: a legal system that bends over backward to protect foreign criminals while ignoring the rights and safety of American citizens.
Under Joe Biden, border encounters soared to a record 2.4 million in 2023, and even after multiple warnings about Tren de Aragua’s presence, the federal government under his watch turned a blind eye. Now, as Trump seeks to clean up the mess, he’s being shackled by courts that seem more interested in appeasing activist groups than protecting the country.
Justice Thomas, in his dissent, laid it out plainly: the administration has the constitutional and statutory authority to act under the Alien Enemies Act and failing to do so risks placing the public in serious danger.
This ruling is not just about deportation procedures it’s about whether the United States still has the will to protect its borders, its citizens, and its laws. With activist judges standing in the way and the Left cheering them on, it’s clearer than ever why November’s election is a battle for the soul and survival of this nation.
