Petroleum-Based Food Dyes Targeted in RFK Jr.'s Proposed Ban
As Trump’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative advances, Kennedy targets dyes already banned abroad but still fed to American kids.

The days of petroleum-based food dyes in American grocery stores are coming to an end and for once, Washington might actually be doing something right.
Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is preparing to announce a sweeping directive that will ban eight artificial food dyes from U.S. products by the end of 2026, aligning America’s food standards with those already enforced across Europe and Canada. The dyes used in everything from sports drinks to children’s cereals have long been linked to hyperactivity and other neurobehavioral issues in children.
This major reform falls under President Trump’s “Make America Healthy Again” initiative, a bold new push to clean up what goes into our food supply after years of complacency under globalist administrations bought and paid for by Big Food and Big Pharma.
The eight petroleum-based dyes being banned:
Red No. 40
Yellow No. 5
Yellow No. 6
Blue No. 1
Blue No. 2
Green No. 3
Red No. 3
Orange B
While food giants are already scrambling, the reality is this: many of them already make safer, dye-free versions of these products for markets like the UK and Canada where these chemicals have been banned for years. In other words, American kids were the guinea pigs, and U.S. consumers were the dumping ground.
In Europe, products like Fanta, Gatorade, and Doritos use natural colorings like paprika, turmeric, carrots, and blueberries.
Yet in the U.S., those same brands still use synthetic dyes like Red 40 and Yellow 5, both tied to behavioral issues in multiple studies.
U.S. food manufacturers have broken past pledges to clean up their act, with billions in profit keeping these chemicals on shelves.
Now, that’s about to change.
FDA Commissioner Martin Makary summed it up well: “Why gamble with the health of our children?”
Kennedy has made it clear that this isn’t negotiable. In March, he summoned executives from PepsiCo, Kellogg, and General Mills to a closed-door meeting in Washington, making it known that phasing out artificial dyes is now a top federal priority.
Health advocates say this could be a historic shift. Vani Hari, known as the “Food Babe,” applauded the decision, noting, “We never had a president ever talk about these issues in this way. You’re watching an entire population who largely never knew about these issues hear about them for the first time.”
Even Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is joining the fight, launching an investigation into Kellogg for falsely marketing dye-filled foods as “healthy.”
This isn’t just about color it’s about corruption, deception, and years of ignoring basic science in the name of profit. It’s about asking why the same companies that feed our kids toxic sludge are somehow able to make cleaner, safer products for every other developed nation on earth.
And more than anything, it’s about Trump and RFK Jr. standing up for American families while the political establishment stayed silent for decades.
This is what happens when leadership prioritizes the health of the people over the power of lobbyists. And for once, it looks like the swamp is finally losing its grip on the grocery aisle.
