‘Real Housewives’ Star Criticizes Hollywood’s Reaction to Hostage Crisis

Jill Zarin questions the entertainment industry's lack of support for hostages held by Hamas.

Jill Zarin, star of “Real Housewives of New York,” has publicly criticized Hollywood’s lackluster response to the plight of Israeli hostages held by Hamas. In a candid interview with Fox News, Zarin expressed disbelief over the entertainment industry's silence on the issue, noting how quickly celebrities rally for other global causes but seem absent in this humanitarian crisis.

“I’m sorry that Hollywood can’t even get behind getting the hostages home. I just don’t understand it,” Zarin said. “They’re not wearing a yellow ribbon. But when there were other things in the world, you know, hashtag … Michelle Obama, hashtag, get the girls home.”

Zarin, 61, emphasized the ongoing suffering of dozens of hostages still in captivity following Hamas’s brutal October 2023 attack on Israel. Her frustration was palpable as she questioned Hollywood elites: “Do you have no Jewish friends? Really? That you can’t, like, use your voice to help get these innocent … and the baby? It just blows my mind.”

The reality star, known for her close friendship with President Donald Trump, reflected on her evolving political views, admitting that her perspective has shifted over the years. “I’ve gotten a little more conservative as I’ve aged,” Zarin said. “I’ve learned a lot. I’ve seen a lot.”

Her remarks come amid a broader public outcry following the release of three Israeli women—Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher, and Emily Damari who were freed as part of a hostage and ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. These women endured 471 days in captivity, a harrowing ordeal that has garnered international attention but, according to Zarin, insufficient support from Hollywood.

Zarin concluded by encouraging others not to fear speaking out, pointing to her own experiences of receiving gratitude from those who share her sentiments. “Sometimes it’s very isolating when you speak out,” she said, “but people are contacting me, saying, ‘Thank you for being the voice because everybody else is so afraid.’”
