Qatar-Backed Hamas Sympathizers Bankrolled Anti-Israel Filmmaker Tied to NYC Politician

Socialist Zohran Mamdani’s mother received millions from regime that funded October 7th terrorists and spreads genocidal anti-Semitism.

While Gaza burns and Israeli families mourn the brutal massacre of October 7, a disturbing web of money, propaganda, and radical ideology is quietly being uncovered and at the center of it all is Qatar, a known state sponsor of Hamas, and its deep ties to a rising New York socialist’s family.

Zohran Mamdani, a far-left New York City councilman and self-described socialist, has positioned himself as a progressive leader. But behind his polished talking points lies a sinister connection: his mother, anti-Israel filmmaker Mira Nair, has received years of financial and career support from Qatar’s royal family the same regime that openly supports the terrorist group that murdered over 1,200 Israelis in a single day.

According to reports, Sheikha Al-Mayassa bint Hamad Al-Thani, sister to Qatar’s ruling emir, has been Nair’s patron since at least 2009. Through her Doha Film Institute and various state-backed cultural platforms, she has funneled millions into Nair’s film projects and institutions, shaping her career from behind the scenes.

Let’s be very clear about who’s writing the checks:

  • Qatar is home to Hamas’ political leadership, even during the planning and execution of the October 7 massacre.

  • Sheikha Al-Mayassa’s mother publicly praised Yahya Sinwar, the Hamas butcher who masterminded the slaughter, claiming “he will live on. And they will be gone.”

  • Qatar has funded institutions honoring Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, a hate preacher who called for the extermination of every Jew, even praising Hitler as “Allah’s punishment” for them.

This isn’t just money. It’s ideology.

And it doesn’t stop at Mamdani’s mother. The Sheikha has even promoted Mamdani’s political campaigns on social media, including fawning over videos of him embracing Nair the same woman who once refused to attend the Haifa International Film Festival, citing “apartheid” and aligning herself with the BDS movement that aims to economically destroy Israel.

Among the Qatari-funded efforts:

  • $15 million for Nair’s 2012 film, “The Reluctant Fundamentalist”, a movie that portrays a Pakistani man as a victim of American post-9/11 paranoia.

  • The Qatar National Museum’s first commissioned film was directed by Nair.

  • Qatar Airways and Qatar Creates helped bankroll an extravagant Nair-directed stage adaptation of Monsoon Wedding during the 2022 World Cup all while Hamas rockets were flying into Israel.

And this is the regime that wants to shape Western arts, politics, and education?

Through its Qatar Foundation, run by Sheikha Moza bint Nasser the woman who praised Sinwar and fantasized about a Jew-free Israel the regime has poured billions of dollars into Western universities and think tanks, attempting to buy silence or, worse, cooperation.

Let’s not kid ourselves. These aren’t isolated acts of philanthropy. This is a coordinated cultural and political influence campaign backed by a government with blood on its hands.

And now, that money flows into the orbit of an elected U.S. official. Zohran Mamdani may not be flying Qatari flags at City Hall, but his direct financial and political proximity to anti-Israel extremists cannot be ignored. This is what the modern “progressive” Left looks like coddled by foreign tyrants, funded by regimes that literally call for the genocide of Jews.

Meanwhile, the corporate media stays silent. No outrage. No investigations. Just more puff pieces on how “diverse” and “inclusive” the new wave of leftist candidates are even when they’re bankrolled by Hamas sympathizers.

We are witnessing the normalization of anti-Semitism, terrorism apologetics, and foreign interference in American politics all under the disguise of art, activism, and “justice.”

And if we don’t call it out now, the next October 7 might not come from halfway across the globe. It might be funded, enabled, or excused from within.
