Pro-Kamala Account Spreading Misinformation Tied to Biden Administration Employee
The account’s founder, a Biden-Harris staffer, raises Hatch Act concerns as he pushes political propaganda.
A viral X account promoting Kamala Harris as the next President is under scrutiny after it was revealed that its founder is a Biden-Harris administration employee. The account, originally called “Biden’s Wins” before rebranding as “Kamala’s Wins” in July, boasts over 765,000 followers and pushes misleading pro-Harris content to millions of potential voters. Its creator, Ethan Wolf, now works as a communications specialist for the U.S. Department of Commerce, raising serious legal questions about whether his actions violate the Hatch Act, which prohibits federal employees from engaging in political activity while on duty.
Wolf, a former campaign staffer and recent college graduate, was quickly embraced by the Biden administration after launching the Biden’s Wins account in early 2022. By the summer of that year, Wolf had been invited to the White House for briefings with top officials, including President Biden and Vice President Harris. Just a year later, he secured a job in the administration, earning nearly $100,000 a year, while simultaneously managing a social media presence that is now focused on promoting Kamala Harris.
Wolf's Kamala’s Wins account has promoted false narratives about inflation, crime rates, and former President Donald Trump.
The account continues to reach millions of viewers daily with pro-Harris content, including debunked claims and attacks on Trump’s mental fitness.
Wolf’s political activity, both from Kamala’s Wins and his personal X account, appears to violate the Hatch Act, a law that bars federal employees from engaging in partisan activities during work hours.
The Democratic administration’s connection to this account raises further ethical concerns, particularly as Wolf has been actively posting political content during his time as a government employee. The Commerce Department responded to inquiries by reaffirming its commitment to the Hatch Act, but Wolf’s actions have already drawn comparisons to previous violations by other high-profile Biden officials. In recent years, Ron Klain, Xavier Becerra, and Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre have all been found in violation of the Hatch Act, highlighting a pattern of disregard for this important law.
Wolf also created “Democratic Wins Media LLC,” a business venture tied to his various political accounts. He monetized his influence through campaign work, accepting payments for promoting Democratic candidates like Shadia Martini, whose campaign paid Wolf $2,000 after a promotion on the Biden’s Wins account. This blending of political propaganda and personal gain further complicates the legal and ethical landscape surrounding Wolf’s activities.
The Kamala’s Wins account has been repeatedly fact-checked for promoting false stories, including claims that Harris is responsible for lowering inflation and crime rates, both of which remain national crises under the Biden administration. The account also spread a false story about several NFL quarterbacks, including Joe Burrow, participating in a "White Dudes for Harris" fundraising event, which was quickly debunked.
Wolf’s meteoric rise from a 20-year-old political activist to a government insider reflects the close ties between the Biden-Harris administration and social media influencers. However, the legal ramifications of his political activity while working for the federal government could lead to serious consequences. Federal employees are prohibited from engaging in such partisan behavior, particularly when they are on the taxpayer’s clock.
With Kamala Harris under increasing scrutiny as she positions herself for a potential presidential run, the role of accounts like Kamala’s Wins in shaping public perception cannot be ignored. As the election season heats up, the administration’s ties to this misinformation operation must be addressed.
