Prince Andrew Stripped of Titles and Evicted from Royal Residence
King Charles cuts ties as Epstein fallout intensifies and public pressure mounts on disgraced royal.

After years of scandal, shame, and silent retreat, Prince Andrew’s royal privileges have officially come to an end. Buckingham Palace confirmed Thursday that King Charles has begun the formal process of stripping his younger brother of all remaining royal titles and removing him from the Royal Lodge his longtime residence in Windsor.
The statement marks a rare but decisive move from the Palace amid a growing storm surrounding Andrew’s ties to convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and the late Virginia Giuffre, who accused Andrew of sexual abuse before tragically taking her own life earlier this year.
“Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor,” the Palace confirmed. “Formal notice has now been served to surrender the lease and he will move to alternative private accommodation.”
In short, Andrew is no longer a prince and no longer welcome on royal grounds.
This is not a soft rebranding. This is exile, plain and simple.
King Charles' decision comes just weeks after the release of Giuffre’s posthumous memoir Nobody’s Girl, in which she describes in graphic detail her alleged encounters with Andrew, including an incident on Epstein’s island that reportedly involved multiple underage girls.
Though Andrew continues to deny all accusations, the Palace has made it clear that his denials are not enough to preserve his status within the monarchy.
“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the statement reads.
“Their Majesties wish to make clear that their thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”
Even Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, is being pushed out of royal accommodations. The two had been living at the Royal Lodge despite being divorced. Now, Ferguson will make “her own arrangements” in a private residence.
While Andrew gave up his title as the Duke of York weeks ago, Thursday’s announcement finalizes the royal family's complete public separation from the scandal-plagued former prince. He will reportedly relocate to Sandringham estate in Norfolk, a property privately owned by the King and notably outside the central royal orbit.
Notably, Andrew still remains eighth in line to the British throne, a strange relic of monarchical succession laws even if his return to public life is effectively impossible.
In a monarchy that often moves at a glacial pace, this is a thunderclap. The once-untouchable royal has now been cast out not just as a scandal, but as a liability. And it speaks volumes about the pressure building inside Buckingham Palace, not just from the public, but from within.
The crown may be inherited, but public trust is earned and when lost, it rarely returns.
