Ilhan Omar Blasts Schumer Over Silence on Radical NYC Mayoral Candidate

The Minnesota congresswoman mocks antisemitism concerns and pressures Democrats to fall in line behind a socialist.

It didn’t take long for Rep. Ilhan Omar to jump into the latest far-left civil war this time calling out her own party’s Senate leader for not endorsing New York City’s extreme socialist mayoral nominee, Zohran Mamdani.

In an interview this week, Omar accused Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer of failing to support Mamdani simply because he’s Muslim a baseless claim that has become all too familiar from the radical wing of the Democratic Party.

“It makes no sense,” Omar said of Schumer’s hesitation. “We as Democrats have always believed that, in an election, we support our party’s nominee.”

That comment is rich, coming from the same corner of the party that regularly threatens to primary moderate Democrats and turns every disagreement into a matter of identity politics.

But it didn’t stop there.

Omar was asked about concerns surrounding Mamdani’s refusal to swiftly denounce the incendiary chant “Globalize the Intifada” a slogan tied to violent anti-Israel sentiment. Rather than address the issue, Omar mocked the idea that there was anything wrong with Mamdani’s stance.

“Well, everything he does or says seems to be called antisemitic,” she scoffed.

Apparently, minimizing antisemitism is now acceptable as long as your candidate checks the right woke boxes.

Here’s what Omar and her progressive allies don’t want to talk about:

  • Zohran Mamdani supports abolishing ICE and defunding the NYPD, even as New York faces a 37% increase in major crimes since 2019.

  • He has publicly aligned himself with Democratic Socialists of America, a group that has openly supported anti-Israel movements.

  • His refusal to denounce extremist rhetoric like “Globalize the Intifada” has raised alarm bells across Jewish communities in the city.

But for Omar, it’s not about policy. It’s about pushing the Democratic Party further left even if that means smearing those who raise legitimate concerns as bigots. And she’s not alone. When asked if Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should challenge Schumer in a primary, Omar hinted she'd be all in:

“I would like Alex to do whatever it is that Alex wants, and I’ll be there to support her.”

This is the new Democratic Party where radicalism is rewarded, identity is weaponized, and any criticism is deflected with accusations of racism or religious bias.

The party’s leadership is being held hostage by its own extreme wing. And if people like Ilhan Omar and Zohran Mamdani get their way, cities like New York already plagued by crime, economic decay, and cultural division will only slide further into chaos.
