Shooting at Old Dominion University Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
One person is dead and two others injured after a gunman opened fire inside a classroom building on campus.

Federal authorities are investigating a deadly shooting at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, after a gunman opened fire inside an academic building Thursday morning.
One person has died and two others were injured in the attack.
Officials identified the suspected shooter as Mohammad Bailor Jalloh, who was found dead at the scene shortly after police arrived.
The FBI confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a potential act of terrorism.
“Our Joint Terrorism Task Force is fully engaged, embedded with local authorities, and providing all resources necessary in the investigation,” FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement.
The shooting unfolded inside Constant Hall, one of the university’s primary academic buildings.
According to authorities, Norfolk police began receiving emergency calls reporting an active shooter at approximately 10:43 a.m.
Witnesses reported that shots had been fired inside classrooms.
Old Dominion University Police Chief Garrett Shelton said officers arrived on the scene within minutes.
A timeline released by investigators shows how quickly events unfolded:
10:43 a.m. Police receive the first reports of gunfire inside Constant Hall
10:47 a.m. First officers arrive on campus
10:50 a.m. The suspected gunman is pronounced dead at the scene
Authorities say three victims were identified during the initial investigation.
Two victims were transported by emergency crews to a nearby hospital for treatment.
A third victim transported themselves to a hospital shortly after the shooting.
Police later confirmed that one of the victims died from their injuries.
Officials have not yet released the identities of the victims.
Campus authorities quickly evacuated students and staff from the building as police secured the scene.
Old Dominion University canceled all classes and campus operations for the remainder of the day while investigators began processing evidence.
Law enforcement agencies from multiple jurisdictions are now assisting in the investigation, including federal counterterrorism specialists.
Officials say investigators are working to determine the shooter’s motive, whether the attack was planned, and whether anyone else may have been involved.
The Joint Terrorism Task Force will examine the suspect’s background, communications, and potential ideological motivations.
Authorities are also reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses who were inside the building during the attack.
For students and faculty at Old Dominion, the sudden violence shattered what had begun as a routine day on campus.
University officials said additional counseling and support services will be made available to students and staff in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The investigation remains ongoing as federal and local authorities work to piece together exactly what led to the deadly shooting.
