Noem Hands Out $10K Bonus Checks to TSA Agents Who Worked During Shutdown
Homeland Security chief and President Trump reward federal employees who stood strong during “Democrat Shutdown Hoax.”

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Thursday that thousands of TSA agents will receive $10,000 bonus checks as a thank-you for their commitment and resilience during the record-breaking 44-day government shutdown a standoff largely driven by Democrat obstructionism.
At a press conference flanked by TSA employees, Noem praised frontline security workers for showing up every day without pay, taking extra shifts, and keeping American air travel operational amid chaos and uncertainty.
“They’re going to receive a bonus check for stepping up, taking on extra shifts, for showing up each and every day, for serving the American people,” said Noem. “We’re going to do what we can to help them and their families get back on their feet.”
This isn’t just back pay that’s already been authorized. These are extra bonuses aimed at recognizing the patriotism and sacrifice of those who kept working while D.C. Democrats played politics with federal paychecks.
The shutdown the longest in U.S. history created major staffing shortages, particularly in aviation. Air traffic controllers and TSA agents were pushed to the limit, yet many chose duty over politics.
To reward that spirit, President Donald Trump also pledged $10,000 bonus checks for air traffic controllers who stayed on the job, calling them “great patriots” in a statement earlier this week.
“For those Air Traffic Controllers who were GREAT PATRIOTS, and didn’t take ANY TIME OFF for the ‘Democrat Shutdown Hoax,’ I will be recommending a BONUS of $10,000 per person,” Trump said.
Trump didn’t shy away from calling out the slackers either. “For those that did nothing but complain, and took time off… I am NOT HAPPY WITH YOU,” he said. “You will have a negative mark, at least in my mind, against your record.”
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed last week it was slashing air traffic by up to 10% at 40 of the nation’s busiest airports, citing ongoing disruptions from the Democrat-driven shutdown. Even with the shutdown officially ended Wednesday night after Trump signed the stopgap funding bill, ripple effects could linger for days.
But the message from the administration is clear: Those who stood with the country will be rewarded. Those who tried to exploit the moment or who followed Democrat talking points instead of showing up for work won’t be getting special treatment.
This move sets a powerful precedent. Service to the nation during crisis matters, and those who stay true to their mission even in the face of political games deserve to be honored and compensated.
Noem’s gesture not only boosts morale among frontline security workers, but also sends a sharp warning to federal bureaucrats and union bosses. Under Trump, duty comes before drama.
