“We are targeting individuals who have committed violent crimes,” Noem explained. “These are the kinds of people who could be detained at Guantanamo Bay before being repatriated.”

When pressed on whether illegal aliens could be held indefinitely, Noem clarified that indefinite detention is not the goal. “The plan is to have a process that we follow that’s laid out in law,” she stated, ensuring that legal pathways are followed to return individuals to their home countries.
