Netanyahu Warned Australia of Antisemitism Months Before Bondi Terror Attack

In a blistering letter, Israel’s prime minister accused PM Albanese of appeasement, inaction, and emboldening pro-Hamas radicals.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Australian officials months ago that antisemitism was spiraling out of control and now, in the wake of the deadly Hanukkah terror attack at Bondi Beach, his words feel tragically prophetic.

In a letter sent in August to Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Netanyahu described the “alarming rise of antisemitism” across Australia, criticizing the “lack of decisive action” by Albanese’s government. On Sunday, his warnings were realized in the worst way possible.

Two gunmen opened fire on thousands of Jewish Australians celebrating the first night of Hanukkah, murdering at least 11 people and injuring dozens more. It’s the deadliest antisemitic attack since the October 7, 2023 Hamas massacre in Israel and it happened in broad daylight, on Australian soil.

Netanyahu didn't hold back in his letter or in his follow-up comments from Dimona, Israel, following the attack.

“Instead, Prime Minister, you replaced weakness with weakness and appeasement with more appeasement,” Netanyahu said.
“Your government did nothing to stop the spread of antisemitism in Australia… You let the disease spread. And the result is the horrific attacks on Jews we saw today.”

The August letter was crystal clear in its warning. Netanyahu wrote of a “campaign of intimidation, vandalism and violence against Jews across the free world,” fueled by “pro-Hamas extremists and left-wing radicals.” He noted that the campaign had intensified under Albanese’s leadership and accused him of pouring fuel on the fire with public support for Palestinian statehood.

“Your call for a Palestinian state pours fuel on this antisemitic fire,” Netanyahu wrote.
“It is not diplomacy, it is appeasement. It rewards Hamas terror… and encourages the Jew-hatred now stalking your streets.”

Netanyahu didn’t stop there. He praised President Donald Trump for taking real action, pointing to the Trump State Department, led by Marco Rubio, which began revoking visas of immigrants who expressed support for Hamas following the group’s barbaric attacks.

“Antisemitism is a cancer. It spreads when leaders stay silent. It retreats when leaders act,” Netanyahu wrote.
“I call upon you to replace weakness with action, appeasement with resolve… History will not forgive hesitation. It will honor action.”

But instead of action, Australia got silence. Instead of cracking down on hate, Albanese’s government offered platitudes. Instead of standing with its Jewish citizens, Australia allowed extremism to fester in its cities, schools, and streets.

This is not just a diplomatic embarrassment it’s a national disgrace. Jewish parents in Sydney are now wondering if it’s safer to raise their families in a war zone like Israel than in their own neighborhood. And who can blame them?

This wasn’t just a failure to act it was a willful dismissal of reality.

  • Netanyahu warned of an “epidemic” of antisemitism in August

  • He called Albanese’s foreign policy “appeasement”

  • He urged action by September 23, 2025, the Jewish New Year

  • Albanese did nothing

  • And now, 11 Jews are dead, gunned down during Hanukkah

When leaders choose political correctness over moral clarity, evil thrives. When they tiptoe around violent ideologies to appease radicals, it’s the innocent who pay the price.

Australia had a chance to act and it didn’t. Now, the whole world is watching.
