Elon Musk Vows To Oust Republicans Who Support Massive Spending Bill

Tech mogul slams GOP over $5 trillion debt hike, threatens to launch new political party.

Elon Musk is turning his firepower on Republican lawmakers, warning that any GOP member of Congress who votes for the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” a sweeping $5 trillion spending package will face political extinction in their next primary.

Musk, who once backed President Trump’s America First agenda and spent $250 million supporting Republican victories in 2024, has now broken ranks. He blasted the legislation Monday, calling it a betrayal of conservative promises to slash wasteful government spending.

“Every member of Congress who campaigned on reducing government spending and then immediately voted for the biggest debt increase in history should hang their head in shame!” Musk posted on X. “And they will lose their primary next year if it is the last thing I do on this Earth.”

What’s in the bill?

  • Permanently extends the 2017 Trump tax cuts

  • Boosts border security and cuts red tape for energy production

  • Eliminates taxes on tips and overtime pay

  • Provides tax relief for seniors

  • But also, according to critics, leaves in place bloated green subsidies and adds trillions to the national debt

While Trump continues to back the bill and is threatening primary challenges against GOP lawmakers who oppose it Musk is taking the opposite approach. He’s now threatening those who vote for it, even calling for the creation of a new political force.

“It is obvious with the insane spending of this bill… we live in a one-party country – the PORKY PIG PARTY!!” Musk wrote. “If this insane spending bill passes, the America Party will be formed the next day.”

He’s also taken direct aim at members of the House Freedom Caucus, once seen as the bulwark against runaway spending, now seemingly split. Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) called out Senate Republicans, saying they care more about Biden’s green subsidies than about reducing America’s $37 trillion debt.

Meanwhile, Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), one of the few conservatives holding the line, has earned Musk’s endorsement. Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC), another outspoken critic of the bill, announced he will not seek re-election a move seen by some as preemptive in light of looming backlash.

With July 4 fast approaching, House and Senate Republicans are scrambling to reconcile the bill’s final provisions before sending it to President Trump’s desk. Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) has declared it “JET FUEL” for the U.S. economy, citing the pro-growth tax and deregulation measures.

But for many conservatives and clearly for Musk the price tag is simply too high.

This is more than just a budget battle. It’s a showdown over the soul of the Republican Party: fiscal sanity vs. political expediency.
