Elon Musk Says He’s Done With Political Spending For Now

After pouring $240 million into helping Trump win, Musk shifts focus back to Tesla and warns leftist vandals “We’re coming for you.”

Elon Musk says he’s hitting pause on politics for now.

After spending nearly $240 million through his America PAC to help President Donald Trump and Republican candidates secure victory in the 2024 election, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO said Tuesday that he’s pulling back from future campaign contributions.

“I think I’ve done enough,” Musk told Bloomberg during a video appearance at the Qatar Economic Forum. “If I see a reason to do political spending in the future, I will do it. I do not currently see a reason.”

The announcement signals a strategic shift for Musk, who became a high-profile force in GOP politics, serving as a senior adviser to President Trump and appearing on the campaign trail across multiple states. After joining Trump’s White House in January, he helped lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to root out fraud and waste in the federal bureaucracy—a task long overdue after years of bloated Democrat spending.

Despite his commitment to reform, Musk saw mixed results in down-ballot efforts. He threw substantial support behind the conservative candidate in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election, calling it critical to the “entire destiny of humanity.” Yet, the left clung to power in the race, as liberal Susan Crawford won by 10 points.

Now, Musk says he’ll be stepping back from DOGE and refocusing on Tesla, where he still holds significant influence. With the company under pressure from left-wing activist attacks, his attention is more needed than ever.

Tesla faced:

  • A drop in revenue and net income during Q1 of 2025

  • A stock slide from $379 to $222, before bouncing back to $349 in recent weeks

  • Escalating acts of domestic terrorism against Tesla facilities, including arson and gunfire

Musk made it clear he won’t be intimidated.

“Firing bullets into showrooms and burning down cars is unacceptable. Those people will go to prison, and the people that funded them and organized them will also go to prison,” he declared Tuesday, earning applause from the forum crowd.

He emphasized his return to Tesla is not about money but about safeguarding the company from activist investors who threaten its long-term mission:

“It’s not a money thing. It’s a reasonable control thing over the future of the company.”

The Left’s war on Musk from cancel culture hit jobs to violent attacks only proves one thing they fear him. He’s a billionaire who won’t bow to their narrative. And now, as he steps away from the campaign trail, it’s clear he’s not going quietly he’s just shifting the battlefield.
