Mikie Sherrill Promises Forced LGBTQ Curriculum With No Parental Opt-Out
The Democrat gubernatorial hopeful doubles down on state-mandated ideology while ignoring New Jersey’s failing education system.

As New Jersey voters prepare to head to the polls, Democrat gubernatorial candidate Mikie Sherrill has made her priorities crystal clear. Parents take a back seat, and woke ideology takes the wheel.
During a May primary debate, Sherrill openly pledged to mandate LGBTQ curriculum in New Jersey classrooms without allowing parents to opt their children out.
“Parents have a right to opt out of a lot of things, but this is not an area where they should be opting out,” Sherrill declared, arguing that state-forced LGBTQ education is about “understanding the background of people throughout our nation.”
Translation: Sherrill wants to decide what your children are taught and you won’t have a say in it.
But it doesn’t stop there. Sherrill has refused to denounce the radical New Jersey Education Association (NJEA), a powerful political machine that recently endorsed her campaign and is now hosting a drag-themed education event titled “Drag is not a Crime: The Past, Present, and Future of Drag.”
Let’s be clear: This is not a fringe event. The NJEA is one of the most influential and well-funded political groups in the state. Instead of focusing on the fact that over 80% of third graders in some NJ schools can’t read at grade level, they’re putting public education dollars and attention into pushing drag culture onto K–12 teachers.
And Sherrill is fully aligned with them.
Meanwhile, Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli is taking a radically different approach one rooted in parental rights, academic excellence, and common sense.
“Drag might not be a crime, but looking the other way while 80% of third graders in some of New Jersey’s schools can’t read at grade level should be,” Ciattarelli’s campaign said in a blistering statement.
Ciattarelli took to X, saying: “I’m all about live and let live, but why are drag queens a featured event at a public school teacher’s conference and what does it have to do with educating our children?! This is Mikie Sherrill’s NJ, not mine.”
He continued: “When I’m Governor, we’re getting back to the basics in our public school curriculum, leaving all this other subject matter to the kitchen table where it belongs – where parents can decide if and when to discuss with their children.”
The race between Ciattarelli and Sherrill has tightened significantly, with polls showing a statistical tie. That means every vote will count especially for parents who are sick and tired of being pushed out of the classroom.
This isn’t about tolerance. It’s about power. Sherrill and the NJEA want the state to raise your kids. Ciattarelli wants to give that power back to the people who know them best their parents.
